1. The stats are from US.. Indians are richest demography in US not in Canada. 2. The reason for Indians being so succesful is pretty simple. Educated population coming to US. Most of people who move to US come for grad school. That in itself is a very specific demography. The harder immigration process in US (specially for Indians) filters out most of the lazy folks. Canada is not US and it will never be US specially because it just needs an average younger population.

Lived in US for 10 years and Canada for 3 years. Canada is not a place to be, if you are a labor or blue collar work, then yes it is a good place. For tech and skilled people, US is the place to be. That's why despite all the green card backlog no one wants to leave US. You will never hear that a NIT/IIT gold medalist went to Canada for his PhD. There are 2 to 3 good universities in Canada, but no indigenous research industry. Poor salaries for tech workers in Canada, cold weather, over expensive housing and broken healthcare system. The quality of houses, roads, highways, shops, factory outlet, costco feels like a cheaper version of US. My white Canadian colleagues go to US for buying their shoes and other stuff.

They invite people on PR, they end up working at gas stations are at job positions for which they are overqualified and underpaid. I have many PhD's in my team that do grunt work in Canada, which no PhD would ever do in US. Many people I knew moved back to US, they were like we would rather spend whole life on H1 rather than as a PR/citizen in Canada.

There is no comparison between richness and business activity of Indians of US and Canada. In Canada very rich class is Sikh Punjabis, then comes Ishmaelis and others. US is economic power house. Canadian market is rather small. Here lot less money running eateries or owning any kind of franchise!
