I grew up in Immokalee and just went May in over 18 years.. I was disappointed. I thought it would have changed, until I started reading how the county take the casino money yet doesn't even care of taking care of Immokalee.

EVERY TIME i go fishing inland i try to stop for Mexican food or a fresh pineapple drink from the farmers market. I love to see the street scene, always something going on! And the chickens, love those. :)

Juan Lara poor places have the best food. Poor people dont pay for restaurants unless the food is good. Rich people and tourist might end up at a fancy looking restaurant and spend money regardless of the food quality. Thats why all the best food is in poor areas, the best mexican food in small towns, the best bbq in african american hoods, the best country food in rural areas.. poor places always have the best food. A crappy restaurant will not be around too long in a poor place. A crappy restaurant can survive decades in a tourist trap area. I did not call immokalee poor, those news sources did.. and it is poor, very poor. I travel all over florida for my videos this town has to be the poorest, and all the other poor towns are in the same general areas. Nothing wrong with being poor, sometimes those are the best people

Born and half raised there. You should have seen the place in the 1980s, closer to 60% below the poverty level with most living in run down mobile homes. The housing projects are actually an improvement.

I have family there that use to (idk if they still do I haven’t been to immokalee in about 10 years) but they would bbq big and feed the community, my uncle runs a church there and always finds ways to feed the community. I was lucky to get out of immokalee but I miss it I loved my childhood there. Where I’m at now you don’t see the hustle and bustle u see there. Immokalee workers deserve way better. From the corn man to the factory workers. ♥️

Ok before upset locals get all in my face check this out. 1. Don't be mad at ME.. be mad at USA TODAY and Wikipedia.. Or mad at the companies who don't pay the workers enough to make a decent living. I am not personally saying anything bad about this town, in fact, i go there for good Mexican food, farmers market and on fishing trips. These are the facts, if for some reason you are too ignorant to accept the facts, that might be part of the reason your community is struggling, ignorance. I am cuban, I was born in poverty thats why i came to USA to work hard and change my situation. The people of Immokalee are hard working, good people the real crooks are the companies who hire them and exploit them to the max. Nobody’s is mad at what you’re saying just know that what you wrote isn’t “facts!” Wikipedia isn’t a credible source and USA Today uses vastly out dated information! Though Immokalee is full of poor people, the crime rate is low (with mostly petty theft) and the average Farmworker in Immokalee actually makes around $12k a year not 8k and if you were really trying to show what Immokalee looks like, you should’ve at least tried to go down lake Trafford, pepper road, and the backend of new market, instead of staying around the bad part of town. I’m not mad, I’m just saying.

Eric Velasquez i did not really try to show anything good or bad i just drove around aimlessly. I did a drive thru of the citys main roads in another video it got few views, this somehow Is what people want to see. Its no doubt immokalee was some issues sometimes locals want to pretend its a normal town but its not. 8k included everyone so 12 per worker sounds about right

WHEN I record the videos, I like to Stop every 5-7 minutes so the file SAVES. I CAN record non stop but if the file becomes too big it can crash the device and you lose your footage. So its good to stop the camera, so that it makes the files smaller. That also makes editing software move faster, run on large files can also crash editing software.

I think the Farmers market is nice, I think the Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest is nice.. I WOULD NEVER walk into a place that was built for the sole purpose of gambling.
