@dimeuno I think that point would probably be when not fighting physically would result in greater suffering, than not. Like say if someone was in the middle of being attacked, and had no way of defending themselves. I feel that what we know is right to do, based on all the knowledge we've accumulated up to that moment, should guide our thoughts and actions. Taking care of ourselves as well as we take care of others, so that we don't have to suffer to help pick people up after they've fallen.

I think Gandhi knew that by being well known, your death was worth so much to the world, as with his following, he became a martyr. As far as I know he believed in active peaceful protest. In the movie of the same name, there's a scene where "Gandhi" says he wants to change their minds, not kill them for having weaknesses we all possess. And that he wanted to embarrass them, essentially by showing what it's to be a good person. Even he likely had a point where he would fight physically though.
