@UC1D3CG7KiqUL-ZRj_y-aROQ Mr Ma played the Tutti Passages in unison w/ the Cello Section on his Cello which really helped him lock in. I wanted to arrange the solo cello part for the Violin (new alternative for Itzack perlman) unfortunately I need to purchase a Violin to do this.

This is a very skilled performance, but I believe Jacqueline Du Pre's interpretation suits the music better.

I love Jacqueline's version as well but historically it is not "correct" it is not accurate to the way they played it in the early classical period.

TwinlceBear... I am a huge fan of Ma's and Du Pre's, equally. And I am a professional cellist, as well. I adore Du Pre's version of Haydn's C maj, but it is actually the opposite of what "suits the music." She played it in the same grand style of Dvorak, Elgar and everything else she ever played. It's just how she played, and it was amazing, fierce, gorgeous and above all, passionate, if 'untrue' to the time periods a piece was composed. Ma has played this piece a million times, of course, and a million times played it a bit different than the last. His style of playing it each time, though, is that of more of what Haydn intended, in the mid-1700s.
