Looks really beautiful, and at 4K60 looks even better. Makes me wonder how awesome would be to play Breath Of The wild at 4K60, too bad Nintendo is not going that way, the game at 30 fps doesn't feel as responsive. I know you can make it happen with a Wii U emulator but I wish there were official ways to do it (meaning a Nintendo console powerful enough).

I can't believe 720p is still aceptable in 2021. Watching Series S hitting that resolution in multiple games is disappointing even with dynamic resolution. I think 1080p should be our minimum standard.

This game is also horribly optimized being a ubisoft game. Loads of distance detail is definitely one of the reasons why. It is perfectly acceptable if you're playing on a switch in portable mode too. Because that's the resolution of the display and it's still really sharp and detailed.

It is a 300 dollars system, bro, and this is a Cross gen game, chill and wait for the next upcoming games, you can always build a PC if you want freedom to set your game as you wish. And as John himself said sometime ago, resolution doesn't mean as much as it did some years ago. TAA is a example of tolos that help a lot DRS games, and even then, still a lot of 1080p titles on Series S, switch is hitting 500p, and it costs the same

Can't complain just about the S hitting low res on rare occasions when PS5/SX also drop to 1440p, 1080p on occasions as well when they're advertised as 4K, 8K consoels. The new consoles are still not up to their full potential. Series S will do better with time, and it needs to sell a lot for devs to have an incentive to optimize well on it. I think it will be fine, but more pressure on devs for sure.

To get back straight into a game where you left off in a couple of seconds. Combined with instant on your back in game within about 5s. You can also switch instantly between multiple games (also where you left off).

Hey Digital Foundry. Could you do a video on the Capcom Arcade Stadium compilation for the Switch? I and a few others noticed fps drops or stuttering when specifically playing the the beatem ups, shooters and fighting games; but no reviewer or streamer seem to acknowledge it. I have rebought every compilation Capcom throws out; including those with the same games this Gen; and it is getting ridiculous how they never can get it right; when my phone and other devices can. This latest one runs on the RE Engine (for the Arcade cabinet backdrop I imagine) and I don't know if that is the problem. Either way I spent another $40 for games i already bought ; hoping the quality would be better than previous releases only to be met with another let down.

This game was a delight to play, looks gorgeous, didn’t encounter a single bug. Smooth as silk from start to finish. Great story, funny dialogue, vibrant looking visuals. Similar to BOTW but the dungeons are way more interesting. Quite like Assassins Creed as well with exploration and combat.

I believe the rationale for that argument is that AAA third party devs will skip Switch, but they won't skip Xbox. If a AAA game comes out, it will almost always be designed to run on the Series S, whereas it will simply not come out on the Switch, or it will come out as a very downgraded port well after the initial launch (e.g., Doom Eternal).

There is a difference between developing a game on a platform and then porting it to another. All the AAA titled except Nintendo IPs are made for PS and Xbox. So they are made keeping in mind the hardware used in them. Just listen to the developers talking about the XSS they do feel like it will put constraints on how they develop games.

I'm hearing the same thing you are about developers saying it'll hold back the series x & ps5 but I've also heard some developers say the opposite to. It seems to me that the only people complaining about the series s holding back game development is console gamers, I could be wrong about that, but why aren't pc gamers up in arms about consoles since the top played games out there are multiplats so why aren't they complaining about consoles holding back these games for what there pc can do. Since games became multiplats back in 2001 and 2000 when the xbox & ps2 came out they must have held game development back a great deal more so then than now. I might even be wrong about all that but it's just a thought and thats what youtube is all about finding out each other thoughts and ideas. So how about this as an idea, if in 2 3 4 years from now and the series s is holding back development why not develope the game for the series x & ps5 then port it to series s. could that work cos it seems to be working for the switch and the series s is significantly more powerful.

@@johnhall5899 As for the console side, you develop keeping in mind the lowest system which is the XSS in this case. Every game has to run on all the 3 consoles. That is not the case with PCs. PC is an open system(unoptimised) so the graphical settings are left to the customer to decide based on their own system so it's scalable. That is not the case with a console the hardware is fixed, the settings are fixed and when the games are brought forward into next-gen you get problems like XSS running Xbox one s and XSX running Ons X version.
