It's been a long time coming but finally - FINALLY! - Digital Foundry can share its in-depth analysis on Biomutant. Yes, there was a massive Twitter storm last year on PS5 vs Series X, rendering resolutions and what-not, but only today, on April 1st 2022, can our findings finally be revealed.

This Dynamic Frame Rate technology is amazing. The frame rate constantly adapts to the cost of rendering. Difficult scene with heavy combat and effects? No problem, DFR will dynamically adjust the frame rate to match the content. Looking at the sky box doing nothing? DFR will give you a huge frame rate boost.

Something I noticed is that on this game, performance is tied to its frame rate: the faster your performance the higher the framerate. It's kinda weird at times.

There's a bug you can exploit where if you add rgb to your setup (any kind of rgb like mouse, strips, etc.) You can increase your framerate despite not having enough of performance

The stutters are not a bug, they're a feature! They let the action pause for a microsecond to see how you react to something you can't control for a fraction of a second. THIS IS THE FUTURE I TELLS YA! It truly makes you feel like Biomutant.

I wholeheartedly appreciate this bit of content. You genuinely made me laugh. This was so smart. It goes to show DF is an outlet that managed with sheer consistency throughout the years to form a proper culture that would allow them on an April Fools day to pull something like this off. Dynamic frame rates simply put the power back into players hands, allowing them to determine the game experience for themselves, and is just all round one of the best features of Biomutant and any game like it daring to be brave in today's frightened world of 'steady framerates'. I am a simple man. When I see evidence of Audi editing a video, I like, save and leave a comment to let the DF gods know WE NEED MORE AUDI. IT'S NEVER ENOUGH AUDI.

This is all John, my friend. But I suppose it does show how bad of an influence I am on the channel.

@@PC98_Audi oh damn. Call me pleasantly surprised. John's editing has come a long (and thanks to you, weird) way.

i would recommend playing Biomutant on a display with FRR (Fixed Refresh Rate), it really evens out the framerate hiccups

Smdh it, Makes the game too easy. Only a 4yo would choose silky smooth FPS and ultra low latency gaming which just improves everything. Up the difficulty by selecting poor and variable FPS plus high latency... like an adult!

This video was funny as hell, at 5:50 I couldn't stop thinking about John getting impressed by Ratchet and Rivet's fur back in the Rift Apart videos
