@11:00 signal joints actually don’t immediately get degraded-these Recombination Excision Circles TREC’s & BREC’s remain inside T and B lymphocytes and are routinely assayed in newborns via heel stick - r/o immunodeficiency

Really the best vid i could find on somatic hypermutation. But still not as detailed as our teacher is expecting us to understand hypermutation (unfortunateli his script is incomprehensible) Anyway, thanks a lot for your awesome video, now i got the big picture

+Swen S I try not to focus too much in depth on molecular biology/cell biology type mechanisms in this class, It would be nice to learn them in the context of immunology, but my god would that be hard for a student to have to learn all at once (we never mention developmental biology and / or epigenetics in this class at all unfortunately) I am curious as to what all you have had to learn when it comes to understanding this stuff and what for though?

+Aliya F NICE, so I assume you study in europe? is a thesis optional or not ? I study in america so our education system is quite different.
@aliyaf7069 жыл бұрын
Yeah I study in London. In my course the thesis was obligatory. Some courses at other institutes don't have a thesis, only taught modules, exams and coursework. Do you study Immunology as well then?
@medaphysicsrepository26399 жыл бұрын
Do you know what you plan to do a thesis on ? immunology isn't like most fields, theres a lot of confusion still getting worked out in the details, one of the things that attracted me to it. and no i don't technically study immunology in the same context as you probably do. In the USA after you get a bachelors, you have to decide what program you want to go into for PhD or Masters (which i assume is the same as the UK?) problem is I haven't really decided on any specific path so I just sample into things here and there lol

+thomas underhill I'm in the midst of writing an essay on TCR diversity, and I like to watch KZbin videos for background before I dig into the scientific journals. Anyways, I just searched vdj recombination and your video came up ☺
