In the Class-II locus, each person inherits a couple of genes HLA-DP (DPA1 and DPA2, which encode α and β chains), a couple of genes HLA-DQ (DQA1 and DQA2, for α and β chains), one gene HLA-DRα (DRA1) and one or two genes HLA-DRβ (DRB1 and DRB3, -4 o -5). That means that one heterozygous individual can inherit 6 or 8 Class-II alleles, three or four from each progenitor. (wikipedia)

thanks so much for the lecture! I didn't quite understand the tetramer fluorescent method for quantifying T-cells. why do the MHC molecules have to be in tetramer form to interact with the T-cell receptors?

I wish camera man would be a little more intelligent; how hard is it to guess that when speaker is turned to the slide and describing it, pointing to it, you need to show this slide and not a speaker's profile?

isn't there should be 12 different types of DP DQ and DR expressing at any given time on MHC type 2 cells? In lecture Dr Harris said 6 different types.
