Seems like the best film noir was made in San Francisco new York and of course Los Angeles. Fabulous backgrounds so you would feel like you were really there.the storyline was more important than car wrecks or expiosions.i grew up as a baby boomer cutting my teeth on these wonderful films.thank you for the memories.

Great Movie!!! I love the classics so much better than the current films. This movie will have you on the edge of your seat and what an ending.

I think this is a "B" movie, but it has the plot, acting, and sets of a front rank film. Definitely one of my favorites from the 40's.

First time I've ever seen this one, and it was a thoroughly entertaining viewing. I don't know why, but they can't seem to make good movies now days. Isn't it interesting how everybody in this movie kept their clothes on and there was no bloody gore splashed across the screen? And not one foul word! People still crave good movies, but it's too bad Hollywood no longer knows how to create them.

Seen this one several times. You can't beat these old film noir classics for taking you back to a time when Hollywood was truly glamorous. They don't make them like this anymore.

This Movie was absolutely stunning. Great performance by Donelevy, it was a fascinating web of deceit, played superbly by all of the cast. What a super Film. I was there every moment of the way. They do not make movies now for enjoyment, or desire, just profit. Thanks for the upload, and I was more than happy to subscribe.

This wonderful film is one of my five favorites from the 40's. If you enjoy 40's movies you might enjoy any of the following you have not seen..."Gilda" (with a ravishing Rita Hayworth); Double Indemnity (top-five all-time favorite of mine); One Touch Of Venus (light-hearted spoof, also Ava Gardner at her most seductive and beautiful. Also the title song is quite compelling.); and of course "It's A Wonderful Life" will always be timeless for its message and depiction of rural life in America, back then.

I was struck by how when she thought her husband was dead, she didn't dress any differently, but when she discovered it was actually her lover who was killed, suddenly she's wearing mourning garb. And what a dichotomy!! Her husband steps up & returns to save her from the gas chamber, but she's perfectly content to send him to the death house, even testifying falsely to make sure that happens!! Thank GOD for dedicated detectives & good police work!! (I know, it's "just a movie!!") 😊😊

A great movie but Brian Donlevy seemed old enough to be Ella Raines father.

See, your problem is that you are a "soul mate" sap. People looking for a "perfect" mate wind up in divorce court because no one can live up to their expectations that they can find "happiness" through someone else. The best relationships involve people being flexible and adaptable and accepting eachother's differences, not trying to mold that someone to his or her "ideal." So grow up or suffer terrible social consequences as a result of seeing the world through your immature, fantasy-based perspective. Idealism is for school kids who have no real world experience.
