I love this book “Shoe Dog” it really inspires me as entrepreneur my favorite Phil Knight quotes: 1. “The cowards never started and the weak died along the way.” 2.”Deep down search for something else, something more..Life is short i wanted mine to be meaningful, purposeful, creative, important and above all different. I wanted to leaves a marked in this world” 3.”LET EVERYONE ELSE TELL YOU AND YOUR IDEA CRAZY!.. JUST KEEP GOING, DON’T STOP, DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT STOPPING UNTIL YOU GET THERE!!

Wow Tom, absolutely brilliant! Thank you so much for this episode. I always love the way you share what you learn, so sincerely and practical. I hope that some day you will share the behind-the-scene lessons you learn from building Quest and now Impact Theory because it's so true as you said in the video, things get hard, it requires long hours, patience and a lot of time it's hard to see how this journey to build something that matters can work out. Thank you!!!

The part in which he talked about a little girl wearing cardboard shoes in Russia , really sent goosebumps all over my body . His storytelling is great.

Just finished reading this book as a recent grad with no definitive plan. Knight really punches the core of re-defining our finish line through the lens of perseverance alongside our life cadence. I appreciated the quote pointed out in this video "You don't need to know what you're doing to be successful". Just like any runner (I believe we all are), just keep putting one foot over the other. It sounds so simple, but keep going forward. Thank you Tom for such an amazing video. I'm new to the channel, but subscribed!

Tom you should reach out to RSD Tyler and get him on. He would blow your mind. And bring with him his entire audience to your new channel.

Amazing insight, Tom! Thanks for the inspiration! It's fueling my mindset for building something BIG! I've starting it and now I'm building the skills to execute it. But I still don't have a clear image of what I'll be doing. I still have a lot to learn. When I'll have the resources and skills I want YOU in my team! At this stage I'm just keep going trough hell and keep pushing it. But It's more like a free fall with no real safety net and not going up hill! Keep up The GREAT WORK on inspiring people to change the world!

Creating that vision can take time. Don't be afraid to sit down and really think your way through it and change the vision and modify it as you go. The key is that you actually get started. Things will become more clear as you're forced to make decisions. It's been said that being an entrepreneur is like jumping off a cliff and buidling your plane on the way down. ;-)

I picked up this book a couple months back per your recommendation. I got to say it totally surprised me, the story, everything. I agree with what you said 100%. I always thought that Adidas came after Nike for some reason... Astonishing story, definitely a must read. Thanks for the recommendation!

2. You dont need to know, what you are going to become successful. 3. If you are going through hell, KEEP GOING. Belief is irrestible. 5:50 If you want to be an Entrepreneur, Better be prepared for Long Hours and dark moments. The cowards never started and weak died along the way. That leaves us, Ladies and Gentleman. Us.

I' am an ultra distance runner and have also used running as a parallel to life and business. But Tom I'm not convinced Phil Knight is the guy you make him out to be. My understanding is Bill Bowerman had a big role to play in Nike's success and that when one digs deeper the company is not as great - as yours for example! I have also not read many good things about the founder and I am not convinced he's a credit to the running world. I'm prepared to read the book on your recommendation mate but I'm full of trepidation. My view is we can learn a lot from Nike and Phil Knight how NOT to do things despite this company's success.
@TomBilyeu8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! I don't know Phil Knight at all, so I have no comment about his character. I can say though that he praises Bill Bowerman to the extreme in the book. I'll be interested to hear your take on the book, because regardless of what Knight is like in real life, the book had a strong impact on me. Also, I'm a total Nike fan boy, so I'm sure I'm biased.
@robweare64618 жыл бұрын
Tom Bilyeu I also run in Nike's and am a fan I just think that Phil lacks integrity and this spilled over into his company where people felt it was a horrible working experience. So I personally would be circumspect when reading his book and paying any heed to his wisdom. That's just how I operate 😄
@Ricecrsp7 жыл бұрын
I just finished the book. It is a good thing to be circumspect, but I would read the book and then apply it if you want to get the most out of the knowledge.
@buzzj897 жыл бұрын
So he lacks integrity, but so do you if you run in nikes and don't like how they're produced. Not everything is as it seems, read the book, especially near the end and you'll see what I'm talking about. btw- im not a nike fan and have not bought a pair in years because I found other brands that work better for me. However, I don't agree with everything that nike does but can respect the company and Phil Knight and there are lessons to be learned from both. I also highly recommend the book.
@robweare64617 жыл бұрын
buzzj89 yes I do appear to be a hypocrite. Btw I now run in New Balance 😉. Point taken I'll read the book. Cheers mate.

Book was a damp squib actually. It felt emotionally empty. Felt like reading a carefully prepared long company memo.
