Khan? Youre overloading variable to mean experimental covariate (the pill) and also the measured response variable and the proxy variable (A1C). Experimentally it’s important that blood sugar (in the temporal context you presented ) tracks/predicts A1C (causality) and if that holds, only then can you use A1C as a measured proxy for the purposes of the test.
