Hey everyone! I wanted to test out myself for the first time since I got it my Festool TID18 comparing it to my other regularly used impacts. Sorry, but this is in no way meant to be a highly technical or advanced comparison video. I really just wanted to see how I personally felt each drill acts in my hands for tasks I commonly use an impact for. For a more detailed and technical version I suggest checking out VCG Construction channel. But, as always, take my videos with a grain of salt because I’m just a regular guy who loves tools....and I’m not a professional KZbin tool reviewer!
Take care everyone, stay safe and thanks so much for watching!!!
Brian

I have the TID 18 on the way as part of set with the new TPC 18/4. At $599.00 with 2 of those new 4.0BT batteries, systainer 3 and 2 head attachments it made sense for me. It was time for me to retire my 18v Mikwaukee set. Enjoyed the review. Thanks!

I bought the milwaukee 2853 it is a tool for auto work as well. Bought it for my company as finish carpenter. Use big bulky drill all day driving screws. The 1/4 impact outclassed the 18 volt Dewalt 1/2 impacr.

Is DeWalt's shaft not centered propertly, or am I crazy? I have one, very good quality tool, extremely confortable to my hand, but that thing is not straight. It's wobbling while spinning. And I can see that on every video on YT.

Love watching your review videos, your reviews are more detailed, especially on comfort and noise. You have more detailed reviews than those youtuber who are in pursuit of faster screwing. I hate watching those commenters who are the fastest and most powerful. Not sure what those comments mean. DeWalt for me. Not necessarily a power thing. They just are the only company that makes absolutely every kind of cordless tool that I need. So I can have one kind of battery to run them all. Also I only use the 60 volt batteries now and I rarely have to change a battery during the work day in each tool. I could care less about the noise, weight, or vibration.

Impact drivers are one of the tools I over buy on and end up having more than I really need. I don't have any Festool drills or drivers but I ditched the DeWalt 887 for the DeWalt 850 and do like it for its compact size and it's on the work van. The other driver on the work van is the Makita xdt16. Out of the two the xdt16 is my favorite as it's pretty compact and more ergonomic. At the house I keep both the M12 and the M18 drivers. The M12 is nice and handles most things and the M18 is just a powerhouse of get er done lol.
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers! While I don’t have any M18 drivers, I will say I’m really liking the newer M12 install driver. That thing comes in handy all the time! I’m about to make another video about my new found appreciation for Makita, and my less fondness for my Festool drills. (My CXS is still my all time favorite from Festool though). I’ve been building a small camper and had the chance to really use a lot of my impacts…and I found myself going to my Makita’s the most often…..
@Fictitious_Character
@Fictitious_Character 2 жыл бұрын
@@BrianWatersOutdoors that M12 installer kit is one I will likely buy. I do paint and drywall and so removal and reinstalling is common for me with cabinets and shelving. I get by with impacts pretty well but I think the M12 installer would be a well used addition. I've considered the Festool CXS but I don't have anything of theirs that require a battery, so a one off batt and charger kind of sucks. I do hear good things about it though. Makita makes comfortable tools that can hold up for the duration. If you watch tool reviews they often focus more on speed, so the Makita gets back handed by them over a second here and a second there. While I do like to be efficient I'm not sweating 60 seconds of my day and I'll take comfort over a few seconds. When you do replace a driver the xdt16 is worth looking into.

I have the little Makita Compact Brushless Impact and what amazes me is how powerful it is given its size and it is just about ergonomically perfect. I was slightly disappointed in the TID18 when it came out, because Festool decided to play in the hyper competitive impact/driver space and frankly didn't really bring anything to the party to justify the cost and exclusivity of the TID18. Unless of course one is committed to the Festool drill/driver battery system. Then it is a good purchase as it fits right in with the other 18v Festool Tools. I am really conflicted between Makita and Festool in this arena. I would really like to try out the Festool drill/driver line but just can't justify it yet given the cost and yet another battery system. Thanks

Makita is by far the best impact on the market, I have the XDT14 and it’s far more powerful than the DeWalt and it will last far longer too. A few weeks ago I was on a job and let one of the guys putting up the new canopies (Sonic Drive In) borrow my Makita after his Milwaukee battery ran down and almost didn’t get my Makita back, the next day 2 of them had bought new Makita drill/impact combo sets. Never used Festool so I don’t have an opinion on them. Makita’s ergonomics and quality are simply the best.

I as well think that Makita makes superior drills/drivers. The M18 platform is just about the only platform I have not tried, but I’m for sure not happy with the direction DeWalt has gone the last few years.
@reginalb124
@reginalb124 3 жыл бұрын
Well, that Makita is certainly not much more powerful, since their higher end impacts are no more powerful than the DeWalt. I recently picked up the Makita TD172D (their newest impact that's currently Japan only) and have driven a zillion screws with my DeWalt 888. The Makita is very nice, but no more powerful. Of course, if power is all you care about the Milwaukee Gen 3 is your tool.
