Lovely piece! I wanted to thank you for your book on saps, blackjacks and slungshots, it really opened my eyes to a whole new family of weapons. I wanted to pay homage to saps and blackjacks with a weapon in my own book I’m writing, which can be described as Dinotopia meets Conan the Barbarian and Blood Meridian. This weapon is called a “wobble mace” and is a haft made from the fybrils of a pterosaurs wing (like the baleen of whales, springy), bound in rawhide, with an iron sphere filled with lead for the load. Once again, thanks for everything you do.

Hey! That’s pretty awesome… love knowing my book inspired something in someone else’s.

Very nice overview. I appreciate the tutorial on various strikes and presentations. Nothing fancy, just a good self-defense target selection. I appreciate that. I've ordered an 8" 12oz 'Bouncer' Slap with a lanyard instead of a strap from Jack Cutting. He's a great guy, very helpful. Mine should be completed in 3 months or so. Im looking forward to receiving it. Thanks again.

I have one of his urban models, love carrying it, only refrain from carrying during the summer because Florida is swampy in the summer😅

Same here in Texas… summer is not sap time LOL.

I carry concealed in FLA. Most of my rigs are IWB leather. I use Montana Pitch Blend leather treatment to waterproof all my leather. It's really good because Montana Pitch doesn't soften the leather. Good product.

I have blackjacks and saps. I usually during the summer months only carry a sap but in the winter months I carry a blackjack
@ObjectHistory Жыл бұрын
It just got cold here in Dallas so I can carry my favorite (saps) easily now in a coat pocket. I've still been carrying since the heat died down but the coat really makes it convenient.

@@ObjectHistory my bucheimer replica blackjack tends to stick out of my Jeans pocket but has no problem fitting in my winter coat pocket. Plus the striking power is well need in the heavy padded coat wearing New York City winters. Now my sap is much suited for the summer months since it can slip in my pocket with ease and be concealed

Got your new book on Kindle, my question for you is where can i purchase saps and blackjacks? I already have all the Boston leather ones who else sales them? Thanks in advance
@ObjectHistory Жыл бұрын
Thanks for picking up the book! There are a lot of really good artisanal makers nowadays. FB is the platform with the biggest groups of makers and buyers. One is Blackjacks, Saps and Knuckledusters. Another is called Saps and Blackjacks. If you hang out on either of those you can definitely get a bunch of good options. I don't like naming individual makers when people ask me because it's impossible not to leave someone top tier out.

Hey Robert, how can I buy one of Jack’s saps? I see all of the videos he posts, but he never includes a link and he doesn’t respond to comments. I was beginning to assume he just made them for himself.

Hi do you know where I can order a slapper i don't find anything online
@murdmart Жыл бұрын
First make sure that you live where they are legal to own. Since you are asking it in open like a law-abiding citizen and stuff :) Afterwards, there are few online warehouses (like SKD) and in example of Jack Cutting, private pages and other made-to-order providers.

Is it just two pieces of thick leather stitched together with weight placed between them?
@ObjectHistory Жыл бұрын
Imagine a few layers of leather (more than two) with cutouts in the center layers for a lead, spoon-head shaped striking head affixed to a flexible, flat-steel shaft. So it’s short but the top-heavy, flexible design gives it a lot of power. The leather then somewhat limits the flexibility… it all equals a weirdly floppy, semi-flexible weapon.
