We shoot a King of 1 Mile compilation with the guys from Absolute Accuracy from East London. Starting distance is 700m all the way to the 1 Mile scoring points per hit. They have a 2000m gong as well for those who are upto the challenge. For those who are interested in challenging them selves by shooting extended range in unfriendly wind give it a try, it's frustrating but awesome fun.
@marklottering396011 ай бұрын
We run the 1 mile and 1000m comps 4 times a year. We also have a plate at 2000m and trust me the 300PRC is more than capable at that distance. We have shot 55cm or 0.279 MRAD groups at 2000m using Hornady 250gr ATips.

The great author on long range shooting, Ryan Cleckner, speaks highly of the .300 PRC and hunts with it. He thinks that the military, specifically the Rangers, which he was in, should adopt it. When he was in service, he used a .300 Win Mag, which was what was available to him. Especially for his tactical shooting. He would dial elevation for distance based on DOPE. then, as far as maybe 400 yards, he could hold left or right edge of target zone into the wind and get a hit in that zone.

My dream rifle is this same ESS chassis with a 7mm prc proof research carbon fiber barrel. I'm not in a position to buy/ build this right now so it would be fun to live vicariously through you and your channel! Get a 7mm PRC to review!

7 PRC same performance as the 7 RM. If you get a 3.7-3.8" action and a 28 Nosler barrel, you can seat out 180+ grns bullets. 7PRC and 28 Nosler about the same ammo availability.

@@WillyK51 I will not ever understand all this new fad to shoot the heaviest bullets for what? I am now 64 years old then as a boy and growing up all my elders who now have passed away most used 7 mm Rem mags on Oregon Roosevelt Elk over the Oregon North coast massive canyons and we always shot 150 grain bullets and when a time was Barns Bullets the X bullet hadn't even been make so we shot often the Nosler 150 Ballistic tips or Partitions with so many dead Elk it is impossible to remembered them all. If we had used such bullets like a 180 grain it would have made for judgment of where to hold on or over impossible for one Range finders no one had ever heard of one. We just knew the 7 mm Rem mag very well how to use them. And speaking of the 7 mm PRC - 7 mm Rem mag we could add the 7 mm Weatherby mag that does do a little better than either one of those 7 mm. Or 7 mm Western so no need to get all excited over a new Gimmick cartridge when all along the old cartridges do the exact same as these new Gimmick cartridges.

@@dalebenson6859 Agree, There is a sweetspot for Cal in my opinion. 7MM 165 grns,,30-06 165 grns, 300 WM 180 grns, 338 max 225 grns 35 cal 225-250 grns depending on game,👍The Fad is about extra long range. I havn't shot anything beyond 150 yds. And lucky those that have a range or plinking ground for beyond 200 yds. A 500 yds range would be fantastic to practice windage and dope, Just in case🤔

@@WillyK51 Good to see someone in these comments working with a full brain. I only used Barns TSX - TTSX - LRX bullets for shooting game with one exception is the AR 10 I did in 6.5-284 Norma so due to no copper expanding bullets in the 156-grain range I shoot the Norma 156 grain Oryx and Vulcan to get the 6.5-284 to match the 270 win. I also shoot the old Bronz & Zink Alloy screw machine made Nosler partitions from the AR 10 I own in 375-300 WSM so I have these in 260 grain and in 300 Grain, but I also have loaded 375 -300 WSM in the Barns TSX 235 grain which makes a Mule deer load that once one of these hits a deer I often have seen the freaking dust or wet fur blow dust or mist off the deer from energy transfer. The reloader wildcat 375 WSM or second name is 375-300 WSM is a match in power of the 375 H&H magnums, I have the very same trajectory from the 375 WSM shooting 300 grain bullets as the 30-06 does shooting 180 grain bullets. But I have 4800-foot pounds of energy from 375 - 300 grain bullets.

Savage comes with the same MDT stock you put on yours, the difference is the barrel, its a whole lot heavier than a Howas plus its grooved. I have a Howa 1500 in .308 and its a lot of fun to shoot. It too has an MDT stock so I agree with you on that. theyre pretty good guns, they just need updating the stock and need decent glass.
