Impala SS Header Gasket Upgrade - Impala Project Update

Well, it's been a while and I totally forgot I shot this on the car back in July. I was having some exhaust issues and found out why... Long story short, minor problem that was the first of a few coming up here. Enjoy!

I have the same 1470 ‘s on mine they work fine but as you found out rechecking torque is always recommended no matter the gasket

Yea I could have kicked myself. These new gaskets though seem to be 'quieter' - Like the thickness insulates noise more, it's an odd thing to describe, but I'm happy.

What I don’t have yet is the LS conversion set up I’d like to know before I spend 2k or more is it worth ?

@@zelly1327 I think it's very slick. If you want reliability and not having to worry/tune an opti, it's great. My setup is slightly unique so tuning wasn't as simple as lots have found. For a power adder/performance gain, it isn't going to do that unless your opti is really bad. My OEM Opti ran 120k miles no problem; so keep that in mind too. If you plan to keep the car awhile, you will like having the peace of mind with a torque head setup.

@@RubberCityMotoring thanks yes mines is a 383 stroker afr headed lt1 no lt1 tuners local and I’d like to get it tuned locally so this torq head kit seems to be the way

@@zelly1327 For sure - Just be careful; you need somebody that gets LT and LS Torqhead tuning. I found a group that's solid with LS but they weren't too good with my setup. They didn't have a lot of answers - but it could have been that specific place.

Will this give my SS more power? My impala doesn't take off like it use to and I'm smelling a faint chemical smell from engine? Mechanic suggested Doughnut gasket and kept pointing to something under the hood towards the right hand side of engine but when I Google doughnut gasket, I'm seeing it under the car and the symptoms don't match the symptoms of the manifold gaskets?

He could be referring to the gasket between the manifold and cat if your car is stock. Not sure though. These are good for headers to the cylinder heads. Nice gaskets!

Always like to see your upgrades 👍🏽 I’m currently about to do the same thing once I drill the exhaust flange bolts out 🤦🏽‍♂️ everything is just so rusted.. and what type of gaskets are those I’d like to order those

@@RubberCityMotoring hey I have a quick question do you know where I could buy a new hub -(if I’m saying it right)- for the Harmonic balance? I had to take mines off for the job I’m having done and I noticed it was kinda damaged looks like someone may have banged on it a few times over the years
