I really love this codex , i can field inquisition and adeptus arbites units mixed with Assassin’s and add grey knights terminators it feels like the video game of warhammer 40k chaosgate demon hunters. Its awesome. For the lack of fire power you could still play some armigers from the imperial knights as allies or a big knight if you desire :D

Yer I didn't say that obvs you can include Knights but tbh its a fun list of loads of types of units, although I'd want to include legends units !

I just wanted an option to choose an absolutely random collection of models and I got it. Some of the rules are tricky in a good way, like the assassins, and the ability to put sisters or gk termies in anything imperial is just neat. I get that some people are upset. Justifiably so. Deathwatch are now on life support just like harlequins.

Yer it will make an interesting army composition, especially using legends units 😁 we'll see how it turns out and how powerful an army it makes

the sheer amount of battle shock this army can put out, and the amount of redeploy means i think it will be somewhat viable, though it will struggle badly in certain matchups

Yer I think it needs more anti tank and firepower but certainly some interesting list types available

I have been away from 40k for years, but saw this faction and thought I might actually hop back in. Sadly, it looks really undercooked, I was hoping for more inquistiors and assassins. I want an army that's agents of the imperium. Im sure you can make this thematically work but I just don't see alot sadly.

It's thematic but not strong. I guess you need to lean into Death Watch and other includes a lot more but it's a shame there's no army rule

While it’s clear that this codex will underperform in competitive try hard play, I’ve been running it in our LGS Crusade for a couple of weeks and it is incredibly fun to play in narrative and casual play. The armies major drawbacks such as poor range, no heavy armor, and no good anti vehicle really make you adapt your play style and try new things. I’ve greatly enjoyed it so far. I do feel like my enjoyment is impacted on the peace of mind that I have several other much stronger armies in my collection to use if needed as opposed to it being my only choice. I’d feel bad if this was my only army

You are quite right. They could have easly done an actual army rule even if it was weak. However i like the codex as an odd bod set of rules and its inspired me to make a 'Renegades Agents' force! Close to 1k painted now and going to use it in an escalation league soon!

You can definitely build an interesting army out of this with varied units so would be fun... just don't think people will take it to tournaments but thats not the be all that ends all anyway 😊

I'm going to use agents when the outpost finally gets it's 500pt speed hammer league going. 3 assassins, an inquisitor and and some arbites 👍. Speed by name and nature

Games Workshop jumped the shark a bit on this one. They give it to us as a new army but really it's an allies codex and nothing else. Still time for a full Deathwatch codex though I hope.

I think GW have a downer on deathwatch for a while and I think this is it for them ! They should have released an actual codex 1st, this isn't going to increase sales, perahps for assassins !

This video is pretty telling of what a sad affair the hobby has become, this isnt targeted at you, since most influential Warhammer-KZbinrs are saying the same, but EVERYTHING is about powerlevel and competetiveness now. There is a good reason most Veteran players moved on to other systems, because unlike Warhammer and the average Warhammer player today, those old gits want to play for fun, ACTUALLY play for fun, not SAY they play for fun in a friendly FLGS game and then bring the most meta army conceivable to the table. They want to play a flavourful and enjoyable games, not win at any cost. I do agree with you in regard to the cuts to the Deathwatch, but as you said, that's a 10th edition problem. 40K more and more becomes like AOS, and I recon this will progress up to the point where both systems are more or less the same. While this army is a far cry away from being competetive, it's super falvourful and a joy to collect and paint, and if you want to play them on a local tournament, just bring along a Knight or some Armigers and you will be able to keep up. I really wish the game would go a little further back to its roots and away from just being about competetive play. I got fed up with 40K in the 9th edition (again) and switched to Bolt Action and boy oh boy was that a gust of frish wind. Sure the game has its own flaws and problems, but the actual game and a majority of the people playing it are a charm. Just setting up the table to make it look somewhat plausible instead of the 5 ruin standard tournament pattern is such an improvement. People buid army lists based on what is historically accurate or on what they think is fun to play. There too are a few rather broken "meta" combos but I have never actually seen them played except on purpose. We played one mission 2 v 1 where one player was playing the infamous Japanese Bamboo Speer spam and our two forces had to hold the position against a hundred naked men with pointy sticks - can't remember the last time I had this much fun with a GW game.

I agree with you, warhammer shouldn't be that competitively focused but unfortunately GW are really leaning into it with constant spots, rules and balance updates. I have other content that is more hobby focused or just for the fun in playing and those videos don't so as well as the ones about competitive play it's a self fulfilling prophecy. This video is very much about a quick overview of the new book, all my videos try and be under 5 mins to be to the point and easily consumable. One of my favourite events to date was a narrative crusade one 😁 I have a video about that lol. Unfortunately my local scene isn't great and I only really get to play by attending tournaments. I enjoy it so that's cool but I'd like to have a local network to play fun and legends units with 😊

@@SimplyWarhammer Yeah I recon that it is a vicious circle, since most people that do play Warhammer like competetetive play or simply dont know the alternatives, since they have become such a rare afterthought. I feel with you in regards to your playing group, when I moved I lost the dudes I have been playing with for years. I too did find new players I like hanging arround with, but as I mentioned before, mostly through Bolt Action. I mean the 40K games I had werent horrible, but as you said yourself, its different from goofing arround with people who also enjoy other aspects of the game other than competetive play and that allow for fun list building or story focused missions
