The canix rex free stratagem ability is pretty good with the trophy claim strat. If instad of selecting a unit you need to get the +1 to wound you select two units you know you can kill, you spend 1 cp to gain 2 cp back.

It still has to be a Monster or Vehicle and if it doesn't work out, you lose the stratagem... But yeah, it's a really powerful thing. Canis Rex itself, the Stratagems in addition. Though I kinda miss the old Trophy Claim... that was really funny. Not very good, but funny.

So with Canis Rex and 1 CP, Knights can tank shock charge twice a turn. That's 22d6 fishing for 5+ for 6MW for each knight. 1 CP for potential of 12MW seems pretty good.....

Canis Rex never had bondsman ability - it's a Knight Preceptor, which is basically the Imperial Knight equivalent of a SM Chaplain.

This is just reinforcing my fear that we're heading into a heavily saturated vehicle meta where you either have the ability to destroy them before being destroyed by them, or you just lose. As the WE and DG player, I've got an increasingly sinking feeling that our only real answers are going to be Angron and Mortarion.

amazing rules. I was afraid due to simplifying of the rules, knight relied a lot on overlapping buffs but i see now that the army is way easier to play and to know what buffs do you have. I miss the monarchy rule but im really happy to see where we are right now. ill be more than glad to finally take my valiant to the field to scare the peasants.

Some of my thoughts: 5+ FNP is crazy. Knights are getting really CHONKY stompy robots. Overall they are really tough machinery. Anti-Tank weapons will still be a problem, obviously, but the FNP reduces it a bit and they still have their Invuln (and Ignore Invulns don't exist yet). The Warglaive looks excellent. No real nerfs (except melee against vehicles), good rules, good stats. OC 8 is nice, especially as the melee combat will have reduced the enemy squad. One important thing to remember about higher Toughness: The only things that are not affected by the higher Toughness are dedicated Anti-tank weapons. Fighting in melee against (elite) infantry still means you're tougher, getting shot by "normal" weapons still isn't as scary and running into a squad of Marines does not spell doom for your Armigers. Plus the Termal Spear looks really good. Canis Rex looks really really good as well. He looks like overall being really good against pretty much anything. Well yikes. If the Stratagems continue to be as expensive, as they were, that 0 CP Stratagem is really, really great. Also: 0 CP and second Rotate Ion Shield? Yes please! Harpoon: Hilarious, love it, might actually be good. Battlecannon: Yeeeees. 36" 2D6+6 shots. Yeeessss. Even against lighter vehicles. This is really tasty. Stratagem 1: Oh hell yes! This is an awesome stratagem. It's expensive, it's really impactful, it's really Knighty! Stratagem 2: Hilarious, awesome, fluffy, actually useful. This makes weapons, that only wound on 3s even deadlier. Also: Both Stratagems against a Mortarion? Yummy. Bondsman Abilities are probably on the bigger Knights as well. So... let's see how they turn out. Overall: Looks great. Looks really strong, looks like the real power fantasy of playing Knights. My only concern is points costs, as they might get even more expensive, meaning you have even fewer models on the table, which would be sad. The one thing I really miss and would wish for, would be good rules for including Knights with other Imperial Armies, comparably to the Daemons with Chaos armies. That would be pretty cool.

I hope there's some rule we haven't seen for including a single Knight in another Imperium army. Much like we have rules for putting Daemons in other Chaos armies. The fact we haven't seen one for Knights doesn't mean it won't be included, but it does leave some fear.

As far as Reclaim the Realm goes, I could see it being good against maneuver heavy armies like Eldar or to a lesser extent Tau. Being able to go full send and force these squishy opponents to defend their deployment zone from your onslaught or risk you getting your Honored ability would be a good way to force them to fight on your terms. I agree Lay Low the Tyrants is more generally applicable though

I personally don't get the new melta gun, its damage is high which is good for multi wound targets but its strength is mid so most things its gonna either over kill (troops,etc) or wound badly against(tanks and monsters)

Yeah they will only be efficient vs light vehicles and very high wound elites like Terminators and anything Custodes. Sisters might struggle to deal with heavy vehicles now that they're answer to tanks doesn't do the trick (although using miracle dice on the wound rolls really helps that out)

The Melta Guns are against lighter Vehicles, less against Land Raiders and Knights. But yeah... it seems a bit underpowered overall... The Warglaives Melta-Lance looks like Meltas should be. Maybe rather S 10 than 12 and only Melta 2... but otherwise... And of course shorter Range.

I totaly agree with you on Knights as an army Bricky. They would be fun as allies, but an army that can ignore half of your firepower is unfun to play against. It warps army building. That's why I'm a bit worried for 10th with almost no army building restrictions. If tanks are boss and you can take as many as you wish than why bother with infantry?

Hm... If Thundercoil harpoon wounds War walkers, Dragoons or Sentinels(if they come back at 6 wounds) on 4+, it will kill 2 of them instead of 1

True. But it's also really cool imagining the Knight skewering two Sentinels with one shot. It's potentially powerful, but the Melta Lance of a Warglaive can do the exact same thing, as it has 2 shots with potentially D6+4 Wounds. So... it's not *that* insane. Spiking the Wound Roll to 6 against Terminators though...

Yea there's a Grey Knight Stratagem that's worded that way aswell, it's poorly written but it is all 1s in essence.

The Aeldari rule is specifically "One [ ]-Roll", where here it isn't. If GW are using a consistent way of wording their rules, that means it's all 1s. Also, a single per model and phase also means it's completely useless. A Knight shoots like 20 shots on average, having 2 re-rolls on that is nice, but not relevant. Having 3-4 re-rolls and another 2-3 however is really good. Don't underestimate the +1" Move though. Getting Knights into melee quickly is very important. If the mission (and other rules) allow for it, getting into melee turn 1 can really mean a lot, especially for the Knight Gallant escorted by Warglaives. In 9th you could build a Gallant that had an average of 28" Move, Advance and Charge distance. Which was pretty hilarious. It's probably not that crazy anymore, but getting an extra 2-3" (depending on wether Advance and Charge are possible", might mean the difference between your Knight standing 9" in front of the enemy Army or the Knight killing a vehicle and consolidating into Infantry. It would be cool, if Knights also got +1" Consolidation as well though...

Since low rolling is the standard all rules assume, you only ever have 1 roll at a time so the wording it like that does make sense.

Since it doesn’t stipulate each attack it may only be a single 1 reroll per hit and wound per model. If you read the admec reroll 1s on Cawl it clearly states each attack. Genestealers and CSM also clearly state each attack on their wound rerolls. The knights definitely don’t say each attack which implies they only get a single reroll compared to the other reroll 1s we’ve seen. I think GW may need to FAQ for clarity though.
