So... gotta weigh in here and ask y'all to clarify. Honest questions here. I had Imperial Triumphant in my Bandcamp wishlist (Inceste EP, which I wound up purchasing later...), but had sorta forgotten about it until Fantano reviewed the new record. I saw the review, said to myself "hm, this sounds like something I'd like", watched a few videos including this one, and I LOVE this - so I mail-ordered Shrine to the Trident Throne and Abyssal Gods, and I'll get on Alphaville as soon as I get paid. So I'm literally here because of Fantano. But someone said the same thing 3 weeks ago and then I see a bunch of negativity in response. I'm not here to sing the praises of the dude and I get tthat some people just dislike him (hey, some people just rub us the wrong way). I also get that there's bound to be some gatekeeping in punk and metal, so maybe you're just defending your scene. I'd love more detail on why he's "the least prepared to review this kind of music" - I'm sorry but that's some scenester sh*t if I've ever heard any. Regardless.... Fantano's positive review is going to mean that the band probably sells a good amount of the record quickly, and can justify a second press fairly soon. When COVID dies down a bit, people (like myself) will probably try to catch them on tour, and buy a shirt and stuff. This will help the band pay the bills, and make it easier for them to keep doing what they're doing. So I'm really not sure why this is a bad thing. Enlighten me.

Pretty cool stuff you guys. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Question though: have you toyed around with the idea very much of doing a full on free improv avant-garde death/black/jazz album? I know I would be interested. Obviously Colin Marston and Weasel Walter and others have been messing around with stuff like that for a while now, but I'd like to see your spin on it, perhaps with more of a jazz emphasis too, like old-fashioned jazz, with traditional instrumentation included, but injected into a whole other, really fucked up context...

They've actually done this on the song Metropolis. They break out into a dissonant jazz swing for a few good minutes.

StayFresh That's not really what I had in mind though. I like that song, but I'm talking more like a full album of hybrid free improv jazz and black and death metal. Like pretty much a fully improvised album with these elements, without regard for tonality or meter, necessarily.
