So I was on Facebook earlier and a short popped up. It was, of course about the Tyranids. The a thought hit me. What if the Tyranids are connected to one of the lost primarchs? What little we know, we do know they did something really really bad to be scrubbed from existence. So what if it was creating “abominations” of life to help fight the emperors war? What leads me down this path is this, other than Fabius Bile, have you heard of any primarchs specializing in creating geneseed, primarchs, space marines, etc.? Each primarch was given both a boon and a curse of their father. So what if one of the lost sons possessed his genetic knowledge? What if that knowledge was utilized to weaponize life, not by the taint of chaos, but with making something akin to an early Tyranid? A bio virus that you dropped on a planet, spawns creatures that goes rampant, kills everything, and thus makes the planet ready for compliance. The emperor forbid this method, the lost primarch said “screw you”, emperor banishes him and his legion to the outside of the galaxy, and the lost primarch vowed revenge by proving to his father that he could make something far superior his supposed greasers tools of war. That could explain why the Tyranids always seem to direct themselves to terra with every ingress into the galaxy. The lost primarch is attempting to reach his father to prove once and for all that he is the superior when it comes to making genetic weapons. “See dad! Told you you should have listen to me! Now be consumed!” That’s what came across my mind when I watched the short on Facebook anyway.

I think this is what they're likely building for. However, be very, very, wary of it. What could well happen is this will become an end times event. Similar to WHFB going into AOS. Now I can't see the 40k universe changing, quite like WHFB did. However, I can see some streamlining. The current state of WH40K rules and faction specific traits etc, may well be seen as being to problematic and time consuming to create. This is where all of the Space Marine Chapters, for example, might effectively be hollowed out. No more codices, as such. Sure, you might still have Dark Angels, Ultra Marines, etc. However, the differences with the chapters will become pretty superficial aka different colour schemes. Some Chapters will have an onus namely a +2 in close combat, so more assault type units. Others shooting, others in movement. Also, bear in mind the virulent wokeness GW has been battling for years. Whats not to stop some twat writing an end times event and having the Emporer return as a female? Moreover, having new Primaris female marines? Hey, the old marines are all dead, there's a massive manpower shortage. Wham, what a way to incorporate new lore free of the pasts lore restrictions on female marines. So, be careful of what sounds cool.

You can tell that the Reapers from Mass Effect were based on the tyranid ships in 40k. Maybe the Emperor needs a Commander Shepard to save humanity
@eric-jr2ilАй бұрын
Well actually 🤓 they were based on the leviathan, so the leviathans were based on the tyranid 😊
@Wustenfuchs109Ай бұрын
You can't, not really. Reapers in ME were, as previous person said, based on Leviathans from the same universe and those were based on squids from our world (as they are arguably the most alien-looking complex life form we have). Tyranids on the other hand are primarily reptilian and insect inspired. They are basically swarming like locusts to feed (hence the insect analogy) with reptilian being a dominant design choice due to humanity's innate fear of reptilian creatures (primarily snakes). While some larger Tyranid ships might have some tentacles and similar appendages, the design inspiration is completely different for 'Nids and Reapers. In that sense, the closest equivalent you have in two franchises are Zerg (from StarCraft) and Tyranids. But, that's almost a standard by this point in SF. If you want to design your aliens that are ugly, dangerous, as alien-looking and menacing - what are you going to do? You don't have that many options. You basically need to go into the human psychology and see what makes our skin crawl. For most people it is reptiles and insects. Which is why most, if not all, famous swarming aliens in Sci-Fi have one or both of those tropes. You COULD make them something entirely different while portraying them as dangerous (like a floating sentient gel blob) but, while you can write them as dangerous as you want, it does not trigger our visual senses in the same way. Technically, nothing prevents you from having Care-Bears type of aliens that are swarming planets and exterminating everything in a blind rage (and few franchises have those cutesy psychopathic aliens) but that simply does not make our senses tingle.
@ownage11445Ай бұрын
@@Wustenfuchs109 I was talking about the developers themselves as in the people who made the game, having potential inspiratation from 40k. Yes the Leviathans made the Reapers but they didn’t make the game. Which is the point of my comment. Obviously the Tyrannids did not build the Reapers which sounds like what you’re insinuating. Which is completely ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous to think that Lethal Weapon was a prequel to Predator 2 because it had Danny Glover and was based in LA.

"The Tyranid encounter ever greater levels of resistance." Yes, but it will not matter. The Tyranid adapt in both tactical ways as in creative ways "on the fly", and wreck havoc still. The many Tyranid Tendrils as well are a tactical maneuvre: By invading from all sides, the enemy has to deal with not 1 part to defend, but a momentarily about 20 to 25 tendrils, which immensely weakens the total defence. Unless a literal miracle happens ... like the Hive Mind suffering a fatal heart attack or something, it is over and done with with the Galaxy. Understand: These Tendrils are mere scouting and probing systems. The true Tyranid Master Fleet which holds the Hive Mind, is still to arrive. And it will very, VERY likely dwarf all other Tendril Fleets combined into one. Not to mention: Who knows what creatures lurk in that Tyranid Master Fleet, what capabilities those creatures have. It might be, there are some that could be larger than planets among them, or with armour of unseen strength, or ... , or ... , or ... . The possibilities are literally endless. Imagine this as a possibility: Hive Mind is a true God. An actual Divine being, not mere some predatorial being, but a different type of god, a physical born one ... . Frankly, I could see this be. An Arcane Entity from a Warp-alike Aethereal place, that has set it's mind on the elimination of all life, the Undoing of Creation, and in order to accomplish this, became physical to wreck total and complete annihilation of all possible life forms. Even within the Warp (Remember Fleet Kronos, the Tyranid Daemon Hunters (Or, as I call them, the "Tyranid Grey Knights" or "Tyranid Exorcists".)?)!!! A being of that capabilities is not to be stopped, unless an actual miracle happens.

@@MalokaiXXINo, it was revenge. In the novel Devestation of Baal, there’s a passage told from the Tyranid perspective that explicitly states that the Hive Fleet didn’t _have_ to make such a massive detour and expend so much biomass, but it _wanted_ to because the Blood Angels had “hurt it,” and so it wanted to “hurt” them back.
