I met Ben in 2018. AA/BVB tour, I got VIP tickets so I could meet the band before the show and take a picture and whatnot. I was super late to the meet, I went to the wrong venue twice (I'm dumb) and had to sprint across the town to make it to the line. As I was running my heels were on fire and I was almost in tears because I thought I was gonna miss something I'd been so looking forward to (I'd never seen them before). Thankfully everything was running a bit behind so I made it, though I was last in line. This was a blessing though. I was literally the last person in line for the VIP meet and greet, got to meet the band but since I was last I got a bit more time to talk than anyone else (from what I could see anyway). Around this time Ben was making his Ben Bruce daddy diaries and I'd watched them all cos AA was my life at the time. The rest of the band sort of just left after my photo (again, I was the last) but Ben and James hung around to talk to me for 5 minutes or so. I just gushed about how much I loved their music and how much it meant to me. I told him how I'd watched all of his daddy diary videos and congratulated him on his family and stuff and he was so kind. He clasped both my hands with his (pretty damn tight lol) and said thank you, just very appreciative. Tbh I can hardly remember it now it was so surreal but I remember I felt so validated, I just loved this band so much and it was almost intimidating having the main song writer in front me like "Hey thanks, much appreciated" lol. Not to talk shit but BVB were on the opposite side of the room (separated by a fence). For legal reasons we were told beforehand no hugs due to people in the past hugging bands then trying to sue with claims of groping and stuff, BVB had their own VIP's (so AA and BVB VIP tix were seperate it was one or the other) and I could see some fans go for hugs and get the "lol no sorry". Again, not talking shit it's understandable. I only mention it cos AA did not give a fuck. I literally saw fans on the AA side get picked up and swung about. Did not care. They gave the fans what they wanted. Idk what point I'm trying to make. I don't listen to AA a lot anymore. I don't like their new music at all honestly haha. But they meant so much to me at the time and as a (self-proclaimed) super fan to have that experience was honestly a highlight in my life. Wish all the best for him and his family.

Man. Following this band for ten years has made me wonder what I'll be like in a decade as well. Their earlier catalog wouldn't have made me think of words like "introspective" and "mature," but I had a lot of fun listening to it and still do. I'm just glad that the band all seem to be much happier and more secure in their lives and careers, while still making music.

Hay muchísimas bandas de metalcore post-hardcore saliendo como pan en panadería. AA va por un buen camino, nomas falta que hagan algo parecido a Reckless And Ralentless y listo.
