Of course it’s awesome, but why the need for 8 bots per box?
@nigelbuckle37593 жыл бұрын
@@amansparekh Because each BOT behaves like the civilisation if it was played by a human (or at least an approximation to it), so for the solo player you have far more replayability than just a generic Bot to face - and you do this using the same deck that you use as a player, no special automata cards needed.

I do appreciate that you attempt to catch and correct any mistakes, and explain them, because that actually helps a lot in gaining a deeper understanding of how the game works.

Paul, thank you for the great tutorial. I bought this game from my local store on a whim, knowing it was a tad tricky to learn, and have looked for a week for a good tutorial video. Yours by far is the best at actually explaining the rules, providing a visual, but also not overwhelming the viewer as they process the rules. Thanks again!

One, of many, great things about this game is that it also makes me want to look up the history of each nation as I play it so that I catch all of the little thematic touches ;) About to play my first solo game and I might just go and find some documentaries to put on in the background as I play.

Bought this game to play solo as a novice gamer. Had never heard of BGG and didn't do any research. Played the game twice through treating unrest as "Other" for the bot. Put the game away for ages and considered trading it away. Watched Paul's VERY helpful playthrough, pulled the game off of the shelf and gave it another go. Love it now. So nuanced with a lot of replayability. Thanks, Paul!

Paul, thank you for the great playthrough. I only spotted a minor small rules mistake that fell through Nigel's and David auditing: @48:10 the market card in position 1 should have been exiled as part of the activation of card #3 (a region).
@juancsuarez Жыл бұрын
I also noticed another mistake during setup that certainly impacted bot's scoring: @10:04 the development cards should have been placed facedown so the higher point cards were developed first.

I watched many videos, reviews, feedbacks, tutorials...once more Paul you're just the best to teach games. I went from "meh, looks to fiddly and long for a card game" to "thanks you for your order, should arrive by 27th of August". I do not know Nigel but I've been playing David's games for a while now, looks really great once you know these key words ! That's the most intimidating thing in the game. I'll print the Errata straight away. Is there an updated rulebook as well ? Great job, thanks again I already feel like I'm ready to play.

Does the bot resolve solstice effects on pinned cards in its play area? Didn't find a clear answer in the rulebooks... At 1:34:02 you didn't check if the bot has solstice effects to resolve after you resolved yours - does that that mean it always ignores them, or was it a mistake?

The cards' effects are ignored for the bot; they trigger empire specific actions that are in the different tables in the solo rules

The only disappointment I have is with the tokens, so dull looking iconography :( I wish they had something parallel to the games artwork. This article says there are at least 20 different uses of the phrase "king of kings" across ancient civilizations, some dating as far back as 1200 BC before Christianity was even a feint glimmer en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of_Kings?wprov=sfti1

Also, was it this video or possibly another, where they said Progress tokens could be traded in for a certain number of Population or Materials? I can't seem to find that in the rule book, and I'm trying to figure out how many I can trade it in for.
@GamingRulesVideos3 жыл бұрын
It is one of my big criticisms of the rulebook - those rules are in the glossary under the term "pay" - when you pay for something, you can spend progress tokens as pop / 2 materials, but that should have been within the main rulebook IMO.

Hi and thanks for for the playthrough. As I was watching your first turn, wouldn't it have been a better choice, if only for the number of victory points, to pay the progress for breaking through. You chose to not pay it, keeping one VP, but gaining -2VP from the Unrest, but had you spent the progress, you would have avoided the -2VP and only lost one, right? Or is there a strategic element where it is more prudent to collect a few unrest cards and then get rid of them in one go?
