This is great informative video. I really needed to learn this workflow because importing dwg in sketches is painful.

Hi, I have a much simpler way. Open the dwg and copy and paste to a scketch. Like that, you can control where you will reference your sketch in a global references. I am using this method and I am very safistied.

Autodesk is working on interoperability between Inventor and Revit. Check out some of the latest info here: knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/Inventor-Install/files/GUID-6209FD76-9E2F-47EA-80E7-0FC55C018507-htm.html

How do you extract BOM from your 2D-3D drawing?

Hi! Thanks for the video, I have one question about this procedure. When i import an AutoCAD file with Inventor i dont get the imported file in the right scale, if i open the DWG in DWG Viewer the scaling is correct but not when i import it to Inventor. Is there any way to fix the scale inside Inventor?

Hi Joakim, Our pleasure! Our goal is to make the community stronger by sharing our knowledge. My understanding is that the file comes in as drawn from AutoCAD. The underlay technology is purely for consumption purposes, so any updates or changes to the file need to be made on the AutoCAD side. -Nigel

What about this 11:06 ''project geometry'' command ?? this first one, What is it for? Isn't it usefull for a DWG drawing? My another question is: Is there a way to join lines, arcs and etc?
@KETIVTechnologies5 жыл бұрын
The project geometry command gets geometric information onto a sketch on another plane. This is useful when you want certain things to line up in a particular way with respect to other portions of the design.

Good day! According to your technique, I inserted the drawing file (in mm) of the AutoCAD 2022 into the Inventor 2022 sketch and suddenly noticed that all the dimensions in the sketch increased and became 25.4 times larger! The 165 mm size turned into 4191 mm and so all the other sizes! It's like an inverter converts inches to mm. I can't find the reason, maybe you know ?!

Sounds like a trivial issue. Did you create a new part drawing in the Inventor that has the imperial unit in the first place? You need to set the drawing unit from mm to inches in Inventor first, then import the Autocad drawing.

None of this process actually applies to importing a dwg or dxf into Inventor. Not one single step works!

Hi Harrelson, I do apologize for misunderstanding about importing .dwg files into inventor and reusing the data from the files. You may find some additional steps to achieve importing these files at the link below. knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2014/ENU/Inventor/files/GUID-9996B399-313F-4AC2-9E39-B92CE5112F30-htm.html Hope this helps! Best, Jeff
