f you also combine this technique with grease pencil you got a powerful way to use this video reference material in the background and sketching your 2D animation on top of that And using the video reference as a "simple" motion capture layer for showing how to animate your 2D animation motions of the characters you painted on top of that.

is there a way to then change the timing in a timeline? I thought it'd be in the NLA timeline editor, but I don't see it there. I have a 2d character from adobe animate imported in blender using this method, I have the voice actor playing through a speaker object, which I'm able to automate the timing of in NLA, but when I hit play, the image is already moving before the audio starts. i hope that makes sense. i'm basically trying to create a scene with everything in blender, so that I don't have to go back and line up audio in another software later. any help is appreciated, thanks for the tutorial.

Add anather emission shader in shading tab, drop the image output to emission input, then using a mix shader mix your emission shader and the principled shader and connect the output node of mix shader to the surface node in material output. you're done !

Hello, I have a question. Is there a way to speed or slow down the video when it is set as plane? I've successfully imported 2 videos as planes but I want to manipulate the speed of both of them. Is there any way I can do that? If so, where would I go to do just that. I haven't found a video that addresses this question. Would gladly appreciate some feedback. Thank you.

Hi, I'm not sure how to do this in Blender, I would look inside the Graph editor, you might be able to re-time the footage there.

Hi i don't know if anyone here has used iclone before but there's a feature which is pretty much drag and drop where you can import green screen footage onto a plane and it removes the green. so your kind of left with a 2d film object in 3d space. its great for making films and putting 2d characters into a 3d setting. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do it in blender and could point me to a video tutorial. heres a link to what i mean and how it works in iclone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fITCoqyCrt14q6c
