They should make a Mule tractor variant. Anything up to 32 scu boxes. So basically, a forklift.

I managed to get to the Kiosk and it opens up the old inventory window. Much better than all the extra windows that added. Also the hauling mission payouts are much more worth doing. The entry level mission went from 4k to 17k if i remember correctly. I've seen a screenshot of the senior missions and they look to pay out more than 100k.

Do you remember the patch number you tested? The one ending in 1908 I think was the last I played but I don't remember the cargo missions being better payouts?

Typical early PTU issues but things have been improved drastically, he's not really wrong if you're looking at it understanding it's in current spot

yeah, with the possible exception of military variants, I think all ships should be rentable in-game once they are purchasable in-game.

The multitool definitely shouldn't be able to move 16 SCU crates at all unless its being used in tandem with another tractor beam. Maybe cap it out at 8 SCU. Two people using multitools together can move a 16 SCU box sluggishly. Add a 3rd multitool and it moves more freely. 4 multitools should be able to move a 32 SCU crate sluggishly. Adding a 5th allows them to move it more freely and so on. Its a multitool. It shouldnt really be able do any of its functions so well that you dont bother with a dedicated tool whose primary purpose is that function. Theres a reason people arent running around with the dedicated tractor beam. The cost to buy one coupled with the fact that it takes up a primary weapon slot means its simply not worth it most of the time.

In my opinion CIG is trying to balance realism versus fun. Box size versus mass is an example. If you make it about mass, just get rid of the handheld. Cause it's not fun to run into 1 scu of something the handheld can't lift. People will just carry the Dedicated tractor around then when they plan on moving things.

Thank god the cargo hauling contract payouts are going up. The older payouts were probably only good enough for the cost of running the ship and a good meal. Looking forward to trying out the cargo hauling now.

@@SuperMacBrother it was quoted as "feedback" but considering it was changed before wave 2. Sadly that feedback can only have come from Wave 1 and Avacados. The current feedback thread for the current build seems to suggest the "feedback" received leading to the reversion may have been a vocal minority. Not many supporters of the current UI.

Good that they listened to the community on the kiosks. I hope they use the UI there to make a new solution somehow, like an equipment manager on that screen, with a paper doll an WPN1/2 slots, the UI feel was good (the transparent windows of the old inventory management are not the best) but obviously the functionality poor

Honestly it kinda feels like a lot of the design work is already staring them in the face; use something similar to the narrow inventory / equip screen from the new loot menu, slot it up above the “main” / local inventory screen. Or turn it on its side and have those slots on the left, “local” inventory on the right. Implementation is going to be much more involved than that OFC but they *have* to settle on something that’s single screen. The UI before you opened the old drawer was still nice to use so it’d be great to see it re-integrated somehow

@@Sarioah yeah, I did hear the main reason the drawer was a thing was because the itembanks share a lot of backend code with the freight elevator, so it's mainly a backend thing

Anything to streamline the access inventory->equipped and ready for action process is an improvement I think the depth of SC inventory management should come from the choices one makes, in terms of what to bring along and what not, and how to prepare one’s ship for eventualities and contingencies. The equipping process itself should be smooth, translating decisions to gameplay as fast as possible

Only CIG could take the incredible potential of a junkyard in Pyro and dilute it with gameplay mechanics that feel more like magic than immersive experiences. Instead of genuine, hands-on repair gameplay, we get terminals that magically spawn components, and dust that somehow fixes our ships. What they've done is good for now what u want to do next is to have MASS determine exactly what u can move So 32SCU of hydrogen might be doable with a small MT, but 32SCU or Iron is impossible for the small MT

I spawned my ship tried to land to land in space station. I had hanger open but it was reasigned. Second atemt to have hanger asigned to land ship despaned. If i had it loaded with cargo i would have lost it.

I like the idea of the changes to the multitool tractor beam and agree with you that it should be based on weight. The multitool should not be the go to beam to move big heavy objects, though I guess the weight will have to be an interesting thing to look into as I am sure the multitool in SQ42 will be used to move objects around to solve puzzles and progress through areas

I disagree with this entirely. It's no fun and is frustrating to have to play "what's in the box?" To know what tool you will need. Everyone who knows they will deal with cargo will just carry the big tractor. I think it should just be by size and the 32s can only be lifted by ship tractors. The big tractor does 8s and 16s... and 4 is max for the handheld.

@@Alcowin123 fair counter point, but if ship tractor beams can only move the 32s that will cause issues in the hangars moving to/from the freight elevators, or with the cats whose beams can't even see the inside of the cargo hold. So for the multi and dedicated, maybe not by weight but definitely have some sort of size restrictions

life is a time sink, and now star citizen is even worse than before. I have a funny feeling the loading grind will get stale real quick and kill trading. all own is a carrack and now that's useless thanks Cig I only have two hours a night to play if that, at least I can spent more time with my kids and not wait in my Hanger for cargo to be loaded, or better yet go play other games so my time isn't wasted.

you don't. You can get 1scu boxes and take them trough the garage 450 times lol. I'm in the same boat, I own one ship and that's the carrack. CIG have made the game unplayable for me. only have two hours a night to play if that, and I'm not going to sit and wait for cargo to be loaded automatically I rather just go play something else so my time isn't wasted.

THE ELVATOR and DOOR need to just function on a Turn style system and stop making timers for doors instead have BODY location in the elevator as he indecator for the door to close the doors should only close if someone has entered the lift and and pressed a button. the door should open and wait for all occupants o LEAVE the lift or the button to be pressed. remove all buttons from all elevator sides and have 2 buttons only like a hospital or hotel You place one button wait for ONE elevator to open would work for every location bar the hangers hangers needs to become turnstile based entry i don't want elevaors for hangers foreverr i want a shuttle drone that takes you to hanger pod to. things that annoy me the fact they are tweaking the tractor beams and shouldn't optmize each ones function aat 100% battery life 50% battery life and 10% battery life. and make the battery charge the factor on how performance functions but weight should be the limitation factor. (it drives me nuts how simple problems can be and how complex the solution becomes) MUltitool should be "WEIGHT" dependant for charge requirement the charge requirement for a multitool should be like 2 tons in gravity then 16 tons for maxlift and then scale the size for mounted. the gimble on the MPUV Tractor is really bad and not stable the cutlass black one doesn't even work

I missed the patch yesterday but it makes so much more sense. Having the item bank display ship components, furniture, ship weapons never made any sense in the first place and to be honest I'm still against the whole idea because this game has enough built-in time sinks. We don't need any more added to game. Swapping out gear used to be simple and fast, now it's just an unnecessary pain in the butt. I don't care about immersion when it makes a slow process even slower. I'd rather keep the "magic bag".
