Important accessories for your telephoto lens

I see that you have now purchased the Canon RF 100-300mm f2.8! I am in a similar situation where I have the RF 600 f4 with my R5. I also have the RF 100-500 f4.5-7.1, but I struggle with that in low light. I also have the RF 1.4 and 2x extenders. I will be going to Antarctica and Patagonia later this year and also Africa next year. Do you think I would have more use for the 100-300 instead of the 100-500? Appreciate your thoughts. Are you happy with the purchase?

hi Fabian If you are afraid that your camera will become dirty, switch to the Om-system camera, which can withstand wet weather conditions very well.😂🙏👏

So lenses on the OM system is completely resistant to scratch or show any wear or tear ever? I think the point was just to keep your lenses looking nice longer with a protective layer.

Dirty is not the issue, bud mud or fine sand. I have the OM-1 II sitting in my shelf right now, but so far I trust it no more or no less in rough conditions than my R5

@@FabianFoppNaturephotography hi Fabian the OM-1 has an IP-53 classification and is practically dust and water tight, which the Canon R5 is certainly not. That being said . I'd rather be hit by a rain shower with an OM-1 than with a Canon R5😂👍😇

I have never used camuflash coating of my lenses, and have had white lenses since the nlnties. Never have a bird or a deer been spoked! It's waving around with the lens that sceards the animals. I always mowe the lens slowly. And by the way, Fotographing small birds with camu clothes is no good. I use bright shiny yellow jacket, and mowe very slowly towards the birds. Than they have controll where I am, and can get really close to them. However, waterbirds is different. Than I use camoclotes. So I have done in 55 years, and it works!

I don’t use the coating for camouflage, it’s for protecting the lens

@@FabianFoppNaturephotography Cannon has a special paint on the telelenses to reflect the heat from the sun. If thw lens gets too warm it eexpands and you won't get sharp photos.

What camera system do you like the most? Canon, Nikon or Sony in wildlife photography?

Puh, tricky question. I really like the Nikon lens setup, but their supertele are very expensive compared to Canon. And I absolutely love my Canon 100-300/2.8. it would be a very hard choice between the two. Sony seems a little bit less interesting to me at the moment, but I‘m also not shooting it a lot

I ordered the lens carrier after watching your video from last year. At first it seems to be a fantastic idea to carry my 600mm around. In the end my back gets quite painfull after a medium/long walk. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong with it but I went back to my trusty monopod + wimberley MH-100 head. I tried a lot of thing but for me nothing beat this setup for lightweight/long hikes. I can do 4-5 hours hikes with it without any pain or fatigue it's awesome. :) For lens cap check out Zemlin. Very good stuff! Also I was quite interested in the roland pro coat.. Until you showed how to unviel the buttons.... xD Velcro? Really guys?.. ^^'

Thanks for sharing! As mentioned, my main „issue“ is that I basically never carry a tripod or monopod 😉
