Easily the best advice I’ve seen given on hitting! We went back and forth with leg kick, I’m always telling my son to be an athlete and it finally clicked, let him be explosive. Well It’s working right now!

Earlier in my coaching career I was one of those coaches that taught one way of doing it, yes foot down early was the only way. I have realized that as the game changes we as coaches have to change as well. Learn hand eye coordination early, so hit everything everywhere. Build confidence in what you are good at. Be explosive on your last half second of the action you are doing right at that moment. Lastly, control your effort (110%) and attitude (smile) one pitch at a time.

On time means enough time so you don't rush your swing right?

This is a great video. Far too often coaches coach 1 style. Hitting is individual. My son is 15 and still figuring it out.

The point is, how do you start your swing with your front foot in the air? What coaches mean is that if you do lift your front foot, it has to be down by a certain time or you’ll be late. Obviously, if you have no leg kick or lift, then your front foot is down. That’s the point!

We just left a hitting coach who only taught toe tap but my son is a leg kick guy. Said it sets his timing. Didn’t even care about the success he had in the past with it!

Everyone has a different swing and generate power. The more your head moves, the less consistent you'll be. If you can leg kick and keep your head straight, do it. If you have a problem with keeping it straight, glide the foot. Stay behind the ball and let it fly

Thank you so much , This one coach messed up everything about my swing I had a no stride but I was comfortable and was strong enough to hit further than most big guys and I’m only 5’5 and he tried to make my swing exactly like his and he is 6’3 . He would say some of the stuff is wrong and made me rebuild my swing for 3 weeks I would go once to his facility but would i work out everyday on my swing at home and every time I would go back to him he would rebuild everything and my confidence has gone down so low ever since I went to him . But now that I saw this it’s a whole different ball game . Thank you so much for saying to be myself, you have helped me more than you think .

I don't care what anybody says, the leg kick is stupid. Keep both of your feet planted on the ground! When I see people lake kick it shows me that they are amateurish. I lose respect for anyone that does the leg kick.

Yeah, all those big leaguers are stupid batters with their leg kicks.
