Great video Reggie. Appreciate the tip about 1/160 for people. As for continuous autofocus, I've had a different experience. On a x100v, I struggled so much with autofocus while chasing my three-year-old around. But the x100vi feels like a totally different camera to me! I did do some tweaking to custom AF-C settings per pal2tech's excellent videos. I've been loving the improvement so much, I almost completely stopped using my X-T5.

7:00 “A lot of Sony shooters don’t have great autofocus skills …” but also “I’m not judging anybody” 😂 But yes, I agree with @kdaq … I’ve been wildly impressed with the X100VI’s ability to grab focus in AF-C mode while taking pics of my 2-year-old. I also shoot with a Sony a7 IV and, while that camera is obviously amazing in AF-C and I’m not saying the Fuji would beat it, I do get a fairly comparable number of keepers with the Fuji in similar situations.

It isn’t a judgement. Just calling things like it is. With more advanced tech, the need for a photographer to develop that skill lessens.

I owned the X100VI for 6 months and I never knew about the T & C thing in the dials looool.. this made me wanna shoot this way, I normally put it in auto but it's cool to know I can simply just control it this like i do in my Sony A7III. Much thanks! but whenever I put my shutter and ISo on auto and Exposure on C the front dial only changes the ISO not expousre ? what im doing wrong

Hi Reggie! Thank you for this video, super helpful to find useful settings. Just one question: how did you map the Auto ISO (1, 2 and 3) against the front dial button by pressing it? Thank you!

If you have configured one the command dial settings to be ISO, then just select that one, and then put the iso dial in C, then you just scroll all the way to the right with the front command dial. The Auto ISO settings are ordered after the highest iso setting on the camera.

Hi Reggie. Just got my X100V1 yesterday. Watching your videos for tips and tricks. At 4:31 of this video, you used the front command dial to chage the Auto ISO beteen settings 1 to 3. I tried but not able to. How do I setup the front command dial to do this? What other settings do I need to set ISO = C/A? Thank you.

I'm a week into owning my X-E3 and the settings with ISO auto are weird to me. I am now thinking that I need to AE-L to make the ISO comp to work "correctly". I have a manual lens so I am assuming that the camera takes this as A priority. I like to have my shutter speed set by the top dial, I like that I can see it there without having to look in the EVF or the LCD, but the back command dial still lets me move the shutter speed about 2-3 stops. I also set my ISO to auto, with a 1/250 threshold and ISO max to 6400. Now this is where it gets weird. On my Nikon with a manual lens I am able to set ISO to auto, and I set my SS to whatever I like which is between 1/350 - 1/1000 and let the ISO expose "correctly" and then I use Exp Comp to adjust the exposure the way I like with keeping the SS the same. I do not get this same experience on my Fuji, when I move the Exp Comp dial, it only goes between 1-2 stops either way and the reading on the camera Exp Comp "shifts" it will show as blue and it will change based on what the camera is seeing. So this makes me think that I need to AE-L before I use the comp dial. Is this the only way to make this work with keeping the shutter speed set from the top dial? Is there a way I can disable the SS being adjusted by the back dial at all? Please help Reggie!
@Reggiebphoto
@Reggiebphoto 4 ай бұрын
There’s no way for exposure Comp to adjust just iso. It needs shutter speed to be unlocked. I don’t like this behavior eother

I have tried everything in order to change the auto iso mode using front dial and it doesn't work. I have it set in the settings and if I click in the dial it just switches between shutter and exposure compensation.

How do you get the front command dial to switch between ISO Auto 1, 2, and 3? I have ISO set to C, SS to Auto, and Aperture Priority. Can't figure it out!

1st set your ISO dial to C. Then increase your ISO manually all the way up. Once you reach "ISOH" the next clicks over will be the "ISOA1-3" settings.

And how is he able to cycle between only ISO and Exp. compensation when clicking the front dial? 4:29 On my X-T5 I can’t remove S.S from the front dial, so it always cycles like S.S -> ISO -> Exposure Compensation
@RejeRush
@RejeRush 7 ай бұрын
@@rdrehmer Your SS top dial should be set to “A” so that you no longer have control over it when in Aperture priority. Your ISO top dial should be set to “C”. You also have to set up the front dial press-in function to include ISO. That way when you press it in it’ll cycle between ISO and Exposure Comp.
@francischang
@francischang 7 ай бұрын
@@rdrehmer I was having trouble figuring that out too. Your ISO dial has to be set to C and your exposure compensation dial also has to be set to C.

Hi new to the X100Vi camera, I have noticed this thing with my camera where when I am cycling through the different film simulations and move the camera around while the menu is open, the pan is really slow like 10FPS slow, but when I am done selecting the simulation it goes back to normal? is that common behaviour?

I just found that I need to set things like auto ISO for each of my custom settings. Is there any way to make these options sticky across all the custom selections and only have the film simulation portion modified? Or, do I need to go into each one to set this up?
@Reggiebphoto
@Reggiebphoto 5 ай бұрын
On newer cams they started including that in the custom settings. The best approach is to copy a c# profile that has it set, then change the image settings from there

I alternate (which is maybe not great). If I'm shooting aperture priority or studio flash I use the normal dials and exposure comp dials, and if I'm doing an event where changing more quickly is important I switch to front and back dials.
