No slight on Jess, but very much enjoying your work on the channel so far Phoebe. I'm trying desperately to get back to the city again during Christmas holiday (the downside of being on a teacher/school schedule) but prices for flights are completely bonkers. Here's hoping for a last-minute deal. Using CityMapper and Google Maps are incredibly easy and make traveling a breeze. Using the "tap to pay" option with your phone rather than an Oyster Card or whatever makes everything super easy. Using the tube is easy enough, but I also recommend tourists trust in the extensive bus system. Buses go places the tube doesn't (obviously) and is just as safe and easy to use (in my experience anyway). So many amazing things in London... I could make a hundred trips and never cover it all. Cheers!

Thank you as always to everyone at Love and London! I enjoyed my visit in March 2024 (after a long time away) thanks to Jess's tips. My personal favourite area to stay is Bloomsbury - it is central but also residential, and the scene varies throughout the area (academics, literary, everyday services for residents, etc). A large variety of lodgings too at may different price points - the Kimpton Fitzroy (formerly Hotel Russell) for over the top luxury, quite a few hostels, and midrange hotels that often get student and tourist groups. And since King's Cross and St. Pancras Stations (or even Euston) are within walking distance, great for leaving town or coming into town by rail as well. My very first time in London in the 1990s had put me in Bloomsbury, and I've considered it my London home neighbourhood ever since.

Your advice about London is always worth it! As a person who has been a subscriber to the Love & London channel since 2018 I've studying what to do and what to avoid while visiting London! 2025 is going to be a great year and I can't to be there in person soon!! 👍😀💂♂🏴ɢʙ

Another reason why Londoners don't drive is because London is an expensive city to live in, so not owning a car relieves you from that burden.

Excellent advice! I really liked you answer to "where to stay?" I go to London a lot and people ask me about it. The first thing before I do anything is ask them what their interests are. I can't help them with shopping sports things or pub excursions but I can direct them to some videos. You tackle a lot of the 'first questions' so I can tell them to watch this LOL.

Started a Notting hill Gate in a duplex flat which I was quite nice we were near places to eat and get breakfast to eat on the go it had a great public transport the tube was about a 10 min walk and it some super markets so we could get food when we didn’t want to eat out so we could save money and it was small but it worked out for my group

The Luton airport now has a convenient DART train that takes you to the station for Thames link, so you don't to take a shuttle bus anymore. You can use contactless payments just like underground.

London can get as low as freezing, ah, that's so nice for you. I'm sitting here in the Chicago suburbs looking at the thermometer, which is currently showing it's 16 degrees F which is about -9 C. And it's only December 1st...we don't get really cold til late January / early February. Wish I could come back to London now!

Thanks for your video. I am coming to London in July 2025 (first visit) for 13 nights and am researching places. I have studied and reviewed the Tube so I have no fear of using it. I found Earl's Court to be fairly easy to move around to get to other attractions and from LHR. Would love to see a video done of around Earl's Court.

Hello! We prob won't do a video about Earl's Court as there isn't really anything interesting there. But we have lots of amazing things to do nearby in our Casual Tourist Guide to West London: shop.loveandlondon.com/collections/casual-tourist-guides-to-london

Couple of minor errors: Stansted, not Stanstead. And at Luton Airport, you use the DART light rail people mover thingy to get from the terminal to the train station now.

Biggest theft risk currently in London is mobile phone snatching. Don't wander around the streets with your head down looking at your phone unaware of your immediate surroundings. If you need to use your phone while in public, step away from the street into a shop entrance or other more protected location.

Cost of a black cab is the same cost for 5 people or only 1,the tube charges for each person, so if there is a group then a taxi can be reasonable.

Another reason (or 2) not to drive in London, It is difficult and expensive to park, there is a daily charge for using a car in the congestion charge zone most of zone 1 (I think). It's really not worth driving.

"or hostels, where you share a room with other guests" Never! I am 48, and will simply pay the extra money for the Premium Inn, or book a private room in hostel. Once your older, lack of privacy becomes intolerable. Just my honest opinion.
