The most widely used insulin is Vetsulin, which say to "vigorously shake" the bottle.

It would be helpful to show getting a drop of blood. That is the hard part for me. Then talk about the way Dog blood sugar levels change during the day. Dog blood sugar surges to very high levels at feeding and that is frightening if you don't know ahead of it happening. ben/ michigan

Be sure to check with the manufacture on administrating the insulin to the dogs body. Most do not recommend giving insulin shots to the "Scruff" area. Also, it is also helpful to know on which type of insulin that you use that some do have the "roll" method to mix, and others brands want you to shake the insulin. I just found out some interesting facts about the insulin that we are using, in which we never knew about.

Vetsulin you shake! Don't know if you know that or not, but if you didn't you most definitely shake Vetsulin. I've called the manufacturer on this.

My diabetic dog has the same thick coat as the one portrayed and have had difficulty penetrating his skin, at times. Solution: Shave a small area of hair off to reveal skin in the area that is suitable for injection. Thank you.

You need to choose different places to inject the dog. Otherwise you can build up scar tissue if you use the same site.

Just be certain to pull back on the plunger a little bit every single time. If you see blood, pick another spot for the injection. You do not ever want to inject insulin into a blood vessel or vein.

Bad information. DIFFERENT INSULIN Mix differently.. such as VETSULIN which require some shaking
