This game was easily one of my childhood favorites. I beat it countless times growing up, even managing a 100% completed photo file. It was relaxing, and fun for casual gaming. Even with the flaws, the graphics and camera angles gave it a sort of charm. I honestly hate seeing all of the 'fur fag' comments attached to 90% of Tail Concerto's videos, this game was made back in a time when Tail Spin, Chip and Dale, and Duck Tales were still being aired on Nicktoons. Thanks for doing it justice.

I actually played the JP version of Solatorobo first, then Tail Concerto, then the NA version of Solatorobo. From my experience with the games, I'd definitely say Solatorobo is more fun to play, but Tail Concerto has a more charm to it. Solatorobo definitely has interesting characters, but they spew out too much exposition for the story. Can't really find myself getting too invested into their personalities like I did in Tail Concerto. Also, there was a rather short lived JP mobile game that counted as the 3rd game in the series called Little Tail Story. I started played it 2 weeks before its service closure, and it was fun! Not in the same genre as the previous 2 games, but still fun! I wish I learned about the game sooner! And there's also the promise of Strelka Stories, which is possibly in the works as the 4th in the series. Can't wait for that!
@ImportGamingFTW10 жыл бұрын
TeirusuFX I agree with your thoughts on those games pretty much 100%. ;)And I've heard of that mobile game, and would have loved to been able to try it out. Keeping my fingers crossed for the next Little Bronx game. This looks like a really interesting game with a very.. unique sense of humor. I was a Nintendo 64 kid through and through so this totally flew under my radar. My cousin on the other hand was a PlayStation owner and he had one or two Atlas games but not this one I'm kinda jealous I missed out on this one, but thankfully we have people like you to share with those of us who weren't previously in the know. PS this was your first video review? This was pretty pro if you ask me.

I was an early adopter of the N64, but games like Final Fantasy VII and all the great RPGs sucked me toward the PlayStation more in the late 90s. I hope you have a chance to play this game or its sequel on the DS, but they're both pretty expensive now, at least ones in English. Hopefully a collection or something will come out. And yes, this was my first video review! Just kind of practice, but I'm happy you think it turned out well enough.

Yeah, I love the look of 3D games from this generation, personally. We'll get countless "indie" games that mimic the sprite work of the 8- and 16-bit era, but not so much when it comes to this style of graphics. I'd love for a game using the power of today's consoles and PCs to create an entire game world in the style of Virtua Fighter. XD

I think the voice acting is just fine. It just suffers from the Silent Hill 1 problem of the audio being cut into small pieces, leading to awkward pauses. Also, the soundtrack CD is now available.
@ImportGamingFTW9 жыл бұрын
+NotOrdinaryInGames Yeah, for the most part the voice acting is good. I like the voices of the main characters and all, but some of the delivery of the other characters are just weird. Could be because of being chopped up, as you said, since there is a lot of that going on, but I think it's just lazy performances. Charming, lazy performances. ;) The OST is available now, you say? As a retail purchase, you mean?

I would love to have Tail Concerto and Solatorbo: Red the Hunter in my collection but the problem is that nowadays they both cost over 300 dollars and that sucks, well they are both hidden gems for the PS1 and DS respectively, and not bad for Cycberconnet2's first game, the reason it went under the radar back in the day in 1998 and 1999 respectively was due to a lack of marketing, and games such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the first Spyro the Dragon game, Spyro 2 Ripro's Rage, Banjo Kazooie, Sonic Adventure, Donkey Kong 64, Ape Escape, Final Fantasy 8, the first Silent Hill, Crash Team Racing, the first Super Smash Bros, Chrono Cross, Rayman 2 The Great Escape, Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Golf, Jet Force Gemini, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Resident Evil 2, F-Zero X, The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening DX, Xenogears, Wario Land 2, Pac Man World, Soulcalibur, Shenmue, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and Medievil which is a cult classic.
@ImportGamingFTW4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear how expensive the games have gotten, it's crazy that right around the time I made this video, Solatorobo was still being sold for about $25 new at Gamestop. The late 90s were a stacked time for video games, and a lot of great titles definitely got lost in the shuffle. But what a time, I would love to relive the thrill of the era.
@kydrafraznoir19644 жыл бұрын
Me too! There were a lot of good titles during the 90's, Super Mario World, the first 4 Sonic the Hedgehog games, The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past, all 3 Donkey Kong Country games, The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening, Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Spyro 1, and 2, Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, and 3, Medievil, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8, Rayman 1, Rayman 2 The Great Escape, Ape Escape, Chrono Trigger, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 64, Nights into Dreams, Sonic Adventure, Chrono Cross, Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and Castlevania Symphony of the Night. The reason that Tail Concerto went under the radar back in the day was because it had a lack of marketing, and also it was overshadowed by the likes of The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie, the first Spyro the Dragon game, Sonic Adventure, F-Zero 64, Donkey Kong 64, Ape Escape, Rayman 2 The Great Escape, Chrono Cross, Super Smash Bros, Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage, and Final Fantasy 8.

Nice video! But I gotta majorly disagree with the animation (cut scenes, not game play) and voice acting. I think it was way ahead of it's time when it came to those two things. More than likely the text is wonky due to translation, but the voice actors did great for that time. Personally my only complaint for the VA work is Waffle's action/battle pharse are far less used compared to the Japanese. Animation wise for those cut scenes considering when it was done that's amazing work. Angelic Layer, Chobits, GetBackers, Ouran Highschool Host Club, Sands of Destruction and a lot more anime series have similar animation that at times is even less as detailed as Tail Concerto's and they were done 3-6 years after. Yeah Game play animation is not anything to give merit, but cut scenes; definitely!
