I find, extracting mesh from the model and then Quatriangulating it in Rhino prior to export the best procedure so far. Cleans the model quite well.

Thanks a lot but I'm facing a problem after importing when trying to render and using materials the objects are in groups and I couldn't separate them like they are in rhino hope you can help me
@tombudd152 жыл бұрын
You will need to select the object, go to the modify tab and under edit mesh you can detach specific objects from the larger group if you need to seperate them

@@tombudd15 Hello Tom; thanks for the video. Since I've designed furniture with Rhino which have a little too many elements, I'm facing the same problem,. Is there a better way to export the 3D model from Rhino so that the different elements are recognized as separate objects in 3DS Max?

Thanks for this, very useful. Any idea on how to import a model with different materials? The hierarchy says it should split by material but for some reason when I import it in max it doesn't recognize any material ID or split the mesh further according to material. Right now the only workaround I'd see is to have one layer per material in Rhino, but this is quite cumbersome. Thanks for your help!

I remember i once saw a video where the guy managed to import the file in such a way that it had rhino layers organized as 3ds Max folders, and inside there were each separate individual object. I kind of really need that for a deadline in a week :/

To much messy meshes after convert nurbs into 3ds max readable file... You shoul explain a better workflow on the export department. Rhino curved surfaces only went to 3da max as a clean solids with stl format. But then 3ds max is quads proprietary. ...
