Nice tutorial! I hadn’t thought of pre-assigning the audio tracks like that. That’s a nice workflow tip. If you don’t want to keep the aux tracks, once you have everything assigned you can remove the aux track input assignments and delete those tracks. Or to skip the aux tracks altogether, you can create the audio tracks first, assign their sequential input busses, and then assign they Maschine multi-outs to their sequential busses. This avoids automatically creating the aux tracks.

Ah damn, that's actually a neat way of cleaning up those aux tracks - I should have included that in this tutorial! oh well 😊

yes, this would be much faster to get auxes assigned automatically. but i would not recommend deleting them afterwards, because you never know when you’ll need to recall the session or maybe to punch stuff in. so, you basically can just hide them for the same aesthetics without losing the functionality

Awesome thanks so much.. this really worked and am so pleased! Was worried about having to pull in full mixes etc.. having separate tracks is a must for mixing.. I did notice that i get some clipping in logic but not in the Maschine mixer,are there any tricks to ensure that clipping is minimised? Do you use any of the isotope products to help mix in logic? Thanks again for taking the time to record this. 👍
@groovining

Happy it helped you out mate! if you've got clipping in Logic I would just pull down all the faders a couple of dB. Or a gain utility to pull down the master fader a couple of dB. Clipping is only a problem on your master channel. I don't use Izotope products but there very good. Logic has great native plugins also ✌️😊

G in G- this is hands down the best tutorial on using Maschine in Logic. Thank you!!!! I prefer to produce and mix my music in Logic and I’m just looking to import Maschine groups (up to 16 groups) and patterns into Logic as midi, not audio, for greater control. How would you recommend I use your template with this goal in mind? Thanks.
@groovining
@groovining 10 ай бұрын
Thanks bro - glad it helped you out! I'm not sure its possible to record everyting in as midi like i've done in audio here. What you can do is to set Maschine up as a 'Multi-timbral' instrument in Logic. In this way you can send Midi information down different midi channels from Logic to Maschine. Its a little complicated but once maschine is loaded into logic you can select a maschine sound and go to the input - Souce is Host. Channel is 1-16. Then in the track area of Logic X (Top Left) you have to select the correct 'midi out' channels to line up with Maschine. Essentially what you can do is program 16 sounds of your choosing inside of Maschine from Logic X using midi in Logic not Maschine. You can also route these using something similar to my method to different output inside of Logic and have control in Logic of each of those tracks. So there is definitly a trade off. Either you producer more in maschine with the flexibilty of using loads of midi channels (16 per group) and record everything in as Audio and mix in Logic. Or you use a multi-timbral instrument to control 16 midi channels in Maschine which direct to individual sounds in Maschine. You could potentailly mix both of these together also :)
@es0terra
@es0terra 10 ай бұрын
That makes sense I’ve gone the multi-timbral route you suggest for midi, but I’m limited to only using group A in machine, or that is my understanding. If I change to to a different group, like B, It messes things up.
@es0terra
@es0terra 10 ай бұрын
I will try your method and see how I like audio.
@groovining
@groovining 9 ай бұрын
You could set this up to have the Multi-timbral playing sounds on different groups but its a lot of faf. Yea give the audio method a go. If you have good audio editing skills, you can do a lot with the individually bounced tracks. Good Luck :)

Thank you for the updated template file! Three questions for you: 1. Would it make sense to create a template that follows Trevor Meier's suggestion below? 2. In your video is the point of the Aux tracks to give us a bus where we can add effects without selecting them in the individual instrument track? If not, what? 3. Question about the part of the video above which starts at 11:30 min: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2WahmqAZsZ4d8U Do we achieve proper routing if we select File --> New From Template and then import your .logicx template? When I open it this way it appears to me the track stack is still in tact and all the buses are routed the same (i.e. Instrument tracks route to Bus 65 through 80. All Aux and Record tracks say bus81). I don't know if this is new in the newer version of logic, but your method we can also use "Keep Bus Number" during the import process you mention starting at 12:40 min in

Hi there. So the reason I have the Aux tracks and don't route directly to the audio tracks from Maschine is so that the actual channels in Machine play out the different Aux tracks. If you want to go directly into the audio tracks then you won't hear any sounds unless you turn on input monitoring on the audio tracks. I find this more fiddly to turn them on and off etc. than just muting the Aux channels once I've recorded everything in. Yes, you can also use the Aux tracks to add effects etc if you want to. Yes, the best way to use this template is to open it from that Template file. That Signal Path is correct. All the Maschine Outs -> Aux Inputs -> Audio Record Tracks. The Audio tracks and Aux tracks are in a track stack so that they can be easily muted and controlled from one place. I just wanted to show how you could import this template into another project if you needed to but I almost always start a new project with the template rather than importing it. The reason I've put all the buses/Auxes so far down is that it allows you to build projects on top of this template without all your buses 1-32 being taken up. It also allows you to import this template on top of your existing one a lot easier. Hope this clears things up - I realised watching back to the vid that I went through some stuff super fast! ✌

Thank you for that thorough repsonse!@@groovining. It all makes sense now. I completed the first song I've done using that template yesterday and successfully recorded all the MASCHINE and vocal tracks the way the template was designed. The song is now in the hands of my mix/mastering engineer. I've shared this template with him as well. your generously supplied template is making a difference! In addition to the MK3 I use MASCHINE+ when traveling and away from my M1. so this is a big deal.

When I try changing each drum pad to its own ext, it doesn't work. I go from 1-8, and it seems to link them all. So once I get to ext 8, all pads are set to ext 8. Any tips?
@groovining
@groovining Жыл бұрын
You should have Ext.1 - Ext. 16 giving you 16 outputs. These can be used for individual pads as well as groups. You bascially have to decide on the 16 most important aspects of your track to output.

Yes the midi routing will be different for every track you make in machine. As you have 16 midi channels you can use them for different things. I.e send some groups out midi channels 1-8 and then send specific sounds out 9-16

This was very helpful. I have been struggling to find a way to record performance mode from Maschine directly into logic so that I can record my performances, live and then use those ideas to build my song structure in logic. Can you explain why you need the group of bus tracks? Why can’t you just send the 16 (multi-out) aux tracks from Maschine directly to the 16 audio tracks? Why do you need to route it from Maschine to 16 bus tracks before routing it to the audio tracks? If the audio from the Maschine instrument is going to the buses (Bus 65- Bus 80) - and - if the inputs for the Aux tracks and the inputs for the record tracks are both coming from the same Maschine instrument track stack (again, Bus 65-Bus 80)… then…. I don’t understand why you need the aux buses - I don’t understand why you can’t send the Maschine instrument directly to the audio record tracks? I haven’t tried anything yet I’m just asking. Thanks!

@@groovining I guess what I mean is, you have the Maschine tracks outputs going to Buses 65-80. It seems redundant because you have the inputs on the Aux tracks and the inputs on the Record Tracks set to Buses 65-80, and you have the outputs on the Aux Tracks and the Record Tracks both set to Output Bus 81. I guess it just seems redundant to have the middle group in the chain of your audio flow. I tried removing the middle group (the tracks you color BLUE in your video), and your template still works just fine for my purposes. So, regardless of any confusion I have, it's brilliant to have the Maschine tracks output to busses so that you can input them to audio tracks for recordings of live performances in Maschine. Sometimes, I prefer this to dragging the midi or audio files for all of my different scenes. Especially when I want to record live guitar or vocals over Maschine ideas quickly. I can arrange my scenes in Maschine and then hit record in Logic and record vocal or guitar ideas on top of the Maschine tracks. When I tried this method, but deleted the Aux tracks (the ones you colored BLUE) I didn't notice any difference in the input monitoring, and, again, regardless, I just appreciate you responding and helping me solve this issue!
@groovining
@groovining 9 ай бұрын
@@MarcQuadagno Ok, so looking at the template I can explain the reason more precisely. You need to have the Aux tracks as without them, you need to have the record tracks both selected and have input monitoring turned on for the audio to play through. This is not a good workflow. What I assume you have done is delete the aux tracks from the main arranger page however, if you go to the mixer page all the aux tracks will still be there performing the same function. The aux tracks essentially just make the template function better but they're not essential for the signal path. I'm happy the template has helped you anyways! I agree it's much better than dragging the audio as you can live perform everything from maschine in one nice take. :)

I'm sure it will have something to do with the output settings in Maschine. 6:58 - What you have to do is route the Maschine Groups out of the different Ext. 1-16. You essentially have 16 outputs from Maschine to send either Individual sounds or groups down. You need to assign these for them to appear in Logic. Go to the desired Group in Maschine. It will say Master in the 'Dest.' Slot. You need to change that to Ext.9 for example to go out channel 9. Let me know how you get on :)

This is truly the most sophisticated method for integrating MASCHINE in LPX! Thank you!! Quick Q for you, and I maybe I've missed something, but the template has an oddity: INST1 channel shown on the left below, is associated with Aux 16 (far right). All the other INST channels link to their respectively numbered busses. For instance: INST2 --> AUX2. It's a fairly simple matter of renaming these but wanted to check first if this was supposed to be like that or not. drive.google.com/file/d/1TvND2s4vutGVomBfVSmRy23f2tWRAN8u/

Hi Athonia! - Thank you, yes I must have made an error when making the Template! I've put a corrected version of the file in google drive now. However, it is with the newer version of Logic X so it might not work for some users! You can simply alt-click the bus on Aux 1 and set it to 65 and all the others should change properly!
