Great video!! I'm on the fence to sell my OG DT to upgrade too, and probably will. Oh, and a question: ¿how did you make the Keystep get power and send midi to the DT? I can't do that with mine, only get power from usb but midi still via 5 pin cable. Thank you!!
@groovining2 күн бұрын
@@TontoRandom both the key step and Digitakt send midi via usb. I route through an app called midi pipe. Or just use a DAW and route that way but I find midi pipe easier if I just want to focus on the Digitakt

could it be used as a looper/sampler with live dj setup as performance sampler ?
@groovining2 күн бұрын
I would say yes but not as well as the Octatrack. An MPC or SP404 MK2 might be an easier workflow for that kind of thing. The Digitakt is an amazing creative production/sound design tool which is great for performance but it would be a lot alongside also DJing. You'd have to know it inside and out.

I've been a Renoise user since 2002. The quality of your information about Renoise is fantastic. I'd like to add that creating unique sounds using one-cycle samples in combination with its filters, modulation. effects, and phrases is unparalleled. No other DAW comes close in this area. Additionally, the quality of all its audio effects is top-notch. Personally, I haven't used plugins in years and rarely open other DAWs anymore. Renoise forever!
@groovining2 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Thats a good old amount of time with Renoise - I'm only on my 8/9 year i think :) Yea thats a really good point, Renoise works a little bit like a synth in that way and you can be so creative in the way you manipulate the program. It certainly a niche way of producing music but once you get the workflow down its really amazing. Renoise Forever!

@@groovining I've returned to watching this many times and referred it to others! I'm now in the process of updating it for Maschine 3.0 I couldn't swap out 2.0 for 3.0 manually without breaking it so I'll need to import it like you mentioned which I haven't done just yet. That'll be the final step for me since I already built it separately from my existing template that still has 2.0. Going over it again I learned a lot more that I overlooked the first time setting it up, you really created a gift of a workflow that I can't stress enough you've solved the riddle for Logic and Maschine pure excellence brother thanks again!

It would be grear to hear if you have any advice/things to look out for when purchasing a S1000. Ive been looking at getting one (despite the crazy price) but having trouble finding a contemporary "buyer's guide".
@groovining7 күн бұрын
I’ve seen Bizzy B talk a lot about good Akai’s so I would have a glance at his channel. A buyers guide for them would be a great idea. I think you either go two ways really. Spend a bit more cash up to around £700 for a great quality unit with all the LED Screen, New PSU, Zulu SCSI. Fully serviced etc. Or go for a cheaper option and try and do a bit of that yourself. Once you’ve already spent £400 for a slightly beat up unit it’s well worth doing the upgrades so it lasts and is easier to work with. I’m not sure the price will ever go back down to be honest from this point.
@jessecampbell45806 күн бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I've been checking out quite a few of Bizzy B's vids. That guy is the hardware king! I'm trying to find a unit that hasn't been modified yet, as I'd preferr to do all that myself. I hear you about the price. I'm just trying to buy up as much classic gear as I can afford before it all gets out of my price range. I recently bought an Amiga, an EMU Ultra 5000 (because of your vids), and I'm checking out a S900 this weekend. Still haven't found the right deal on an S1000. Both the 900 and 1000 go for about $1000 Canadian now. I'd really love to get an s3200 as well but I'm already going a bit overboard 😆
@groovining2 күн бұрын
It's a massive help if you can do the upgrades yourself & will definitly save you some cash there. With an Amiga & Emu Ultra 5000 you've got some amazing tools! The Emu is my favourite even over the Akai. I use it for loads of sound design stuff and all my sample packs etc. The Akai s1000 has an dope sound quality and I primarily use it for processing breaks and resample back to the computer. I'd say anything from the S900, S950, S1000, S1100 would be perfect. You'd be happy with any I think as they each have pros/cons. Just look out for a good deal :) Good luck ✌️

still got it? I'm sure they will be adding slice mode eventually.
@groovining7 күн бұрын
Yes. New video coming soon on Renoise Vs Digitakt 2 which is going really well. Massively hoping they brings manual slicing in a new update. Digichains is still the only real way to go.

What do you use to sync your Digitakt/hardware sequencers to your DAW btw? I've been using an ERM Multiclock for 3-4 years now but seem to have never ending latency issues!!
@groovining7 күн бұрын
I use Overbridge for the Digitakt which seems to work the best for me even though I’ve had a few latency issues. For everything else I just use standard midi from the DAW with plugin delay compensation
