Yep everything now has to be mesmerizing due to corporations having scientists study what gets consumers attention esply kids and exploiting that to the fullest extent..its like they have no faith in their shows or products so they rely on force feeding everyone advertisements and content by trickery to assure or at least increase the odds of a return investment..its whats killing this world is a bunch of consumers..seeing things over-manufactured thinking they will do well only to have it flop and have tobe dropped down by half in price..idk if youve noticed but these bargain bin stores like ollies and dollar tree are signs of a congested market by companies overdoing things without doing any real research..they figure if they make a million whatever it is they make at a lower price than making other than by demand they will save money which only creates more landfill at half the price bc ppl wait now for things to go on sell..which makes sense bc the companies created the very half price markets that they dont want their products to be in..everything but food and gas and other regional goods should be made if there is sufficient need..how many fidget spinners are in landfills.all that metal and plastic for what??.why do we have a chip shortage? Im sure bc of the pandemic but also Bc they make so many electronic gadgets that we definitely dont need trying to create the next big thing.the newest thing that makes me sick are 1 use disposable batteries..i mean really? Corporate greed and the exploitation of a consumer based society using science and trickery just to make a buck for the top 1% is a disaster and i for one am ready for a change..

Commenting again because I just did the experiment, with a short garden hose section we had laying around in the garage... and two ballons, IT WORKED MARVELLOUSLY! The 1st try didn't work, I also had trouble doing the set up. I used paper clips (learned in this channel) to seal the balloons to be able to put them to the hose. I also secured them with rubber bands, but that is not mandatory, they seem to secureto the hose by themselves really well. It's super interesting to discover that the phenomena indeed works, you can move the air back and forth as many times as you like, and that it's super easy to do, it just requires a little patience to not surrender to the difficulties of the set up, failures, etc. Awesome!

Where did we go wrong ? It was such a marvellous time to live in Adelaide we made such good television that respected audience's and didn't treat them like imbeciles . People talked the way we talk not putting on fake accents to sound more Australian lol I may be a grumpy old man now but I still reckon nothing can compare to when we grew up with such quality shows like this one .

Compress the larger (blue) balloon until it isa little smaller than the yellow balloon. Then let go. The balloons will take over. There are many more science activities at kzbin.info Deane.
@asdfasdfadfasdf29796 жыл бұрын
I suppose when the balloons are the same size is when it can go either way? I feel like the stretching weakens them though.
@stupidhandles6 жыл бұрын
asdfasdf adfasdf yeah, elastic fatigue, example of which, after you blow up a balloon and let it deflate, then compare it to a fresh balloon, the inflated/deflated balloon is "saggier"
@jnv19716 жыл бұрын
Actually the green balloon will need to be quite a bit smaller than the yellow one before the pressure equalizes. Going by a typical rubber hysteresis chart it probably needs to be 20-30% smaller before it can overcome the pressure generated by the yellow balloon.

Thanks. Curiosity Show was a national science program for children featuring Dr Rob Morrison and Dr Deane Hutton. It was made in Adelaide, South Australia and screened nationally in Australia as well as in Europe, Asia and Australasia (14 countries) from 1972-1990. Deane and Rob intentionally used everyday items around the house (like old cans) so that children could repeat the demonstrations with materials they had to hand. In 1984 Curiosity Show won the Prix Jeunesse International, the world's top award for children's TV programs. Rob and Deane are steadily uploading segments at kzbin.info Why not subscribe?

@erfinderwerkstatt6 жыл бұрын
Hi! You can make it go either way- The Channel "the action lab" had a video similar to that, and it goes a bit further. Depending on if the one was on it's way to be inflated or deflated (Elastic Hysteresis) the pressure is different, besides the exact same size during the presentation. It's a bit counter intuitive at first, but very interesting to try out.
Why do all your videos feel like they were made in the 1960's?

I was thinking this was the segment where a balloon is popped revealing a different coloured balloon... like magic... Actually, one balloon is slightly larger than the balloon inside, so when you pop the outer balloon, you reveal the inner balloon. Not sure if Rob or Deane did this on this Show or not.
@CuriosityShow6 жыл бұрын
Yes - I did the Balloon Colour Change activity in the early days of Curiosity Show (it ran for 18 years). I used a white balloon inside a red balloon. In those early years, videotapes were wiped and re-used - so we do not have a complete record of those years. Deane.
