You’re good at what you do and you ALWAYS have been. Don’t compare yourself to others, just be yourself and do what you love. That’s enough!

I feel you so much about everything you've said in the video... Been stuck in the imposter syndrome and feeling like my art and story is not with sharing for a really while. Thank you for this video. Sending love and support 🩵

Hullo Erika, I have been enjoying your art and watching your videos has been very entertaining! I am truly amazed by the artists working in today’s world. I am retired from actively seeking or working for clients. I did work for 40+ years as a freelance artist. I did everything to make a buck so I was able to pay my bills. I honestly don’t know how people are able to create art and then make videos about it! Recording what you do, then editing the video portion, plus adding some voice instructions, I find this truly overwhelming! I have even watched streams and it simply doesn’t make sense to me, how do you do this? I am trying to learn how to paint with soft pastels. This is a medium I never had an opportunity with, ever! I did a chalk drawing for a school opening ceremony, but that was not meant to last and I am glad as it was as wonky as #@%&/=(*! I am glad that it only exists in some blurry photos! Even by the end of the opening it had been walked on and smudged out! I have no intention of creating a channel for sharing content, from tutorials to a create a this kind of “thing”. I truly believe that is something you do so much better than me, well you and 90% of everyone else on KZbin! Now I have taught live painting classes at the local library and senior centers, I even recorded it once. Once Looking back at the video, I am just not sure how anyone learned how to paint the landscape that I lead them to paint. They all went home with a picture and so many people loved what they did! I truly commend you and your fellow youtubers for creating your amazingly wonderful videos with a warmth and genuineness that keeps people coming back for more! I believe that you understand how to do this much better than most and when you do start believing in yourself even half as much as others do you will surely come into your own! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and even your fears, you truly are a wonderful person and an amazing artist!

Hi Michael! Thank you so much for sharing your story! Oooo soft pastels are tough but they’re so beautiful (and very satisfying to work with once you get the hang of them!) It sounds like they still really enjoyed the class! A quote I keep coming back to is from the Perfectionism Project podcast - “It doesn’t matter if there’s someone else out there who’s more experienced and has a bigger audience than you who is sharing that same advice. There’s someone who needs to hear it from you.” Even if you thought you could’ve improved your teaching, it seems like you were the person to teach them to create something and teach them to love the process of doing it! There’s a lot that goes into keeping up with everything these days! While I tried to do it all at one point, I’ve learned that it’s impossible to keep up with for me and I have to be selective with my energy. I’d rather spend more time creating art I care about than trying to record everything to make short videos! Maybe that won’t reach as many people but hopefully it reaches the right ones!
