There were so many gems in this video, I have to rewatch it to absorb them all. You are definitely the real deal. A REAL artist and filmmaker like no other. It's so clear that your art is embedded within you. And you share it in every video and movie you make. And you help me see the artist that lives within me. Thank you so much. I am so grateful that I discovered your work and your content.

It seems that imposter syndrome is the voice that simply tells you "You can't do this" even as you're actually doing it. We are here to help one another and lift each other up. This video is amazing and speaks to me personally on so many levels. Thank you for making and sharing it. I'm so glad I found your channel.

That idea about running until your feet bleed has stuck in my head. You started me on a creative trajectory. I won’t get any ideas like that from the latest Sony reviews or whatever is the latest hyped gear. I’m looking for vides with content beyond just reviews these days. I had to buy a new camera a few months ago so unfortunately had to do tedious research but now I’m using a Lumix S1 and I have no idea what the latest hyped camera is. Another syndrome to look into is the Dunning-Kruger effect. If anyone wants to understand this more, there is a wiki page. I see this effect manifesting a lot these days because few people spend a tremendous amount of time working at mastering a specific skill. When you work at something like this you will come across numerous problems and hurdles that have to be crossed hence when you consider any other skill which many be in a completely different field, you will appreciate that nothing is that easy to master. Stripping societies of skilled labour by offshoring industrial jobs is one way to create Dunny-Kruger effect. Education also fails us in this area. For example, I think every child should have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument because then they would find out that without some discipline and time, it is actually very difficult to get to a reasonable level. It could also be drawing which I learnt at an early age or some other art skill which is useful for life even if you do something unrelated.

So much here... first... thanks for the kind words. If I truly started you on a creative direction, that honors me, for sure. And I agree with so much of what you mention in this comment. I have always had certain "disciplines" in my life that have served me well, and kept me humble, all at the same time. And yes... learning to draw, to play an instrument, anything that requires time and attention, some discipline and faith are all such important life lessons. I often think about learning to play something on the guitar, or even better, memorizing a 200 page script for one of my solo plays, and how valuable those processes have been for me. At the beginning, you can't even fathom getting to your goal of learning these chord changes, or having all of these words in your body, off-book, but with each day, you just keep doing it, and you might not even see the progress for quite a while, but if you keep at it, over time, the progress leading to the actual learning will kick in, and it becomes clear that you can actually accomplish these goals, that persistence matters, that dedication works and perhaps most importantly, it grows your empathy for what other people can do as well. You learn how difficult it is to learn any skill, what it takes as a human being to get there, and that kind of understanding is so important, and obviously valuable on so many levels.

@@RockWILK Hi Rock. I don't know how you remember all those words. I don't know much about theatre performances like this but I've never seen anybody else do what you do. It seems very unique to me. I doubt I could ever remember all that. I write songs and can't even remember the lyrics. I don't remember music well either but I do understand the structure to improvise. However, that then requires a whole different discipline. The reason I want to move into doing more video is so I can blend sound with pictures. I've spent a lot of time on still photography but with video in mind so a lot of that has a kind of cinematic quality. The problem is trying to do it all yourself. I know some other people I could probably work with in future. I'm also attempting to develop unique sounds with guitar at the moment. I just built a guitar and have various ways to get sounds without an amplifier. It's easy to sound like everyone else but requires a lot of work to develop a different sound. I actually just came across a guy on youtube who's channel is called MkGee. He's got quite a unique guitar sound but what I found very interesting is the videos. They found a way to get some movement without too much trouble. He's on the back of a moving truck or maybe what looks like a train etc.

Mixing different disciplines together is a way to go. Often you find this by accident. You do one thing then realise it's not quite for you then you find something else but what you did before feeds in. I'm sure you're theatre performances would not be the same if you hadn't spent the time doing the music. Then you do the video as well so naturally this all develops into something unique. It also gives you a break. You do one thing and run out of creative steam then do something else for a while and as you go back and forth, it keeps things fresh and ideas cross over and build into something original.

@@ryanstark2350 Wow, building instruments with unique sounds. That's awesome. So cool. As far as memorizing lines, it's my creative practice. I do it even when I'm not working on a play. It's how I write. when I'm working on dialogue, I need to put the words into my body to make sure they are really conversational. It's just the way I have always done it. I'm memorizing all the time. When I run. In the shower. When I cook. Drive. On the train. All the time. And so, thus... I have no life. lol. (kidding, I'm a fortunate person, for sure) Thanks so much for the kind words.
