What's funny is that in the late 90's there was actually people who were working on systems that were kind of similar to this where you had one 56k modem for your incoming traffic and one for your outgoing traffic working together so you technically had a 112k modem, naturally there were people who then started looking at how to simply add more incoming/outgoing modems to get ever higher speeds.

This is one of my favorite Joker bits for the sole reason that I had only Dial-Up until April of last year, and only discontinued it earlier this year. While many towns around me had broadband and wifi for years, I had to deal with 48.8 kbs on a good day, and 36.0 kbs on bad ones. Where Joe talked about taking ten minutes to watch a two minute Goldeneye clip, I have a memory of waiting a half hour to watch the Night of the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian trailer.

@@KP-by4eu honestly, it would have taken me too long. Like I said , I remember when Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian came out and I clicked on the external link on my local movie theater's website for the trailer. That trailer is like 2 minutes 20 seconds or so. Considering that it took me a half hour to watch, repeatedly rewinding it to the beginning (and yes, as a 12 year old kid it was worth it to me), what would this video figure for, like an hour? Hahaha

I live in a rural area of Cecil county Maryland, near Port Deposit (where I think Murr? stayed during the bad traffic jam on I-95 years back). While it's far from remote, not in the West Virginia mountains or something, its still pretty country. I have the only internet, and fastest version available in my area, DSL, it comes through the phone line and I'm lucky to get half a mb/s downloads. Many places still lack access to high speed internet in the U.S. I know the slow modem bit and notes that came up were a joke, but it's worth pointing out that this is a problem in many areas of the country.
