No, it’s real. Murr lives in a private apartment, I’m guessing somewhere near midtown. His security deposit (I lived in NYC and it’s usually 3 months rent), could cost anywhere from 15-20 THOUSAND. This is like legitimately a financial nightmare.

Since people are calling it fake and/or scripted, I'll just remind you all that these KZbin uploads don't always have the full punishment, this being one they heavily cut. In the punishment, we are told that the other three did tell the kid which items in particular he had to pick part-way through, so it's not like he's picking these items just because he knows it's funnier that way. The other three, along with the kid, fully knew how they were going to execute this punishment before it even started. During the Impractical Insider after the punishment, we see Jake get an X-Box signed by all four Jokers as well. TL;DR - Not fake, Jake was told what to pick by the other Jokers and even got an X-Box signed by all four Jokers out of it in the end.

Punishment Ideas: Sal: -Forced to Wax his beard and legs -Has to sing the National Anthem at either a baseball game or a football game as a surprise punishment so that A, he can't sing, and B, since it's a surprise he might forget the words, doubling the humiliation. I'm guessing he probably doesn't like tall roller coasters because of his fear of heights. -Has to go through the training process of becoming an Astronaut. Aka, ride in the things that go upside down and sideways a bunch, and any other simulators they have to go through, just because. Joe: -Has to go to a popular public place an offer to take photos of families, but instead only takes photos of himself pretending to take photos of the families, and when the families try to get him to do it again, he has to refuse. - Has to water ski, but isn't given skis, so the boat just drags him along in the water, Revenge for the Rodeo punishment. -Forced to teach his kids the birds and the bees, revenge for Q's birds and bees punishment Q: -Forced to wear a bald cap for the rest of the season, revenge for Murr's wig punishment, and has to take an ID photo of some sort. --Forced to pull a fake fire alarm at a hotel and is exposed so that everyone made to evacuate gets mad at him. Everyone is complaining about it being fake but if you'd watch the BTS, they show where they and the kid admit that no answers nor questions were told to him ahead of time, they show where they have all of Murr's stuff in the kid's room, and the only "scripted" part was the kid's choice of what to take. If you all are seriously upset because this show is the slightest bit scripted, regardless how authentic it may seem, you may just want to throw out your tv because all reality shows are scripted to some degree.
