The release for this is a mess, and it's not helping - people just don't know it exists. It's out on VoD and even blu-ray in some countries, in limited release in others, and some don't even have a scheduled release at all yet (like the US). Very unfortunate, but I know audiences will make this one a hit eventually - it's too good to be this obscure.

Since this is on topic, as someone who is into true crime the idea of having a "favorite serial killer" or other things along that line is just perplexing to me. Like serial killers aren't fictional characters they're real people who have done awful things. The way some people can be with true crime is a reflection of humanity's voyeuristic side (like with parasocial relationships, wanting to know as much as possible about your favorite celebrities, etc.)

Just watched it, loved seeing a lot of locations in my city of Montreal. Kind of wish they gave the two leads more development, especially come the ending. I would of prefered an ending that showcased how diving deep into the seedy part of humanity, doesn't really help anyone but herself in her obsession. Guess 8MM did it better on that end, because even when Nick Cage finds out who the killer really is, and helps the mother of the girl who died in the snuff film know she actually died, and the killer was given justice...There was a cost, and ultimately, were they better off for knowing? Not really. Kind of wish this movie played on that more, since they even mention at the start"we're lucky we don't have the other girl's footage..."still a great flick though, I just feel the two leads lacked the WEIGHT in writing that would have given the ending some punch, and felt less like a vigilante justice ending. Still glad montreal film making isn't dead, this movie was gorgeously filmed above all else (I even knew an extra on the set of the court case LOL the goth girl sitting next to the lead at the start of the film)

Thank you. For me, it was not a mystery. It was obvious Kelly Ann was a twisted serial killer fan girl, and obvious that Clementine was a victim with a saviour complex. There was no reason to suppose he was innocent. That was not a surprise. I did not feel that Kelly Ann was unravelling because she never seemed “raveled”, she just got caught. One reason people obsess about true crime is knowing that some crimes can be solved and that bad guys can be caught and that cold cases can eventually be solved. Also, a lot of people worry about being victimised and have sympathy for the victims.
