Personally I always considered the volume of a case to be the internal volume. How much space do you have to fit components into. I would consider including external components, IE feet, to be a form of advantageous advertising. That is to say, claiming they have more storage space than the case provides. I really only pay attention to what sized components fit in a given case since that is a more tangible metric. Volume seams to be a more appreciable measurement for SFF builders but I wonder how the community feels about including external components.

I never understand the chairs these companies make where they don't fit the body comfortably, such as putting a overly sized head cushion that pushes your head out uncomfortably. Make the damn chairs fit the body properly to feel relaxing and comfortable.

Yes, definitely, especially with the Pi 5 that came out with the PCIe connector and the Pi Base standard. Maybe they can get with Pimoroni to build a compatible Pi 5 case that accommodates a NVME dual-slot base that's on sale now.

I really like how Fractal isn't afraid to deviate from the norms. Their cases are always uniquely theirs I've seen miniature 3D-Printed Norths already for the RPi, complete with mount for a miniature Noctua fan on the back, but an official one would be awesome.

I'm a carpenter and I have worked with all types of woods. If it is a dense wood, it should be fine structurally if air is constantly moving through the grill. Temperature is never the issue, it's moisture. If you live on the water and DO NOT have climate control (AC with dehumidification) even with the steel back plate it still could warp, but it would need to sit for a while, without air flow, and see high humidity then see low humidity without any use. I'm sure it is coated with a polyurethane, or soaked in an oil. Both of which prevent moisture from entering the grain. If the wood is left untreated moisture will enter the wood fibers until it's equal to the relative humidity of the environment. As the environment becomes less humid and the wood begins to dry out, the moisture trapped in the fibers at the top surface of the wood evaporates faster than the moisture below and the wood fibers get smaller and pull the outter ones towards the center, and that is what causes the wood to cup or bow. Because it is open, with very little blockage, besides the metal, and when the fans are going, any moisture that got in the wood should evaporate at a more even rate so the wood shouldn't bow or cup. But again, if the computer sits unused and it sees humidity cycles, and the preservative is old and brittle, it could cup or bow.

I have many PI's that would very much like to live in such a luxurious wood lined home, all PI's deserve a Sanctuary, a place where they can relax and feel safe and secure - this is not just a must but a making the world a better place obligation Herr Fractal North ! Silverstone FT03 and FT03 Mini were early to that party by over a decade (came out in 2010 IIRC). I guess they were ahead of the curve! Edit: there's also the SFFTime MNLT which also has this form factor and it has been out for a few years. Understandable if you haven't seen it though, it's a very niche one-man shop so probably less well known outside of the SFF community
