It was a pleasure to meet you and have you join us at the gathering, Madison! You swing an ax really well, my friend!

@@SurvivalSherpa It wasn't the first time I ever picked on up. lol. I grew up out in the country. My dad also taught me how to use tools since I was itty bitty. But that doesn't mean I haven't picked up bad habits or that I can't still learn a few things about these tools and their purpose. I will definitely make plans to get back in the spring!

I knew after your first swing it wasn't your first rodeo. I always try to stay a student. So much more to learn in our craft.

Survival Sherpa I don’t know nothing. But I’m trying to cure that by hanging around the right folks and putting myself in the right place. There’s more to learn than I’ll ever know.

excellent work Todd! When the tape is rolling it’s easy to make mistakes. Most people would’ve cut that out to avoid criticism but it’s an important lesson. God bless!

Many thanks, Seth! Mistakes are worth watching and learning for me. That was a first for me and figured others may prop an ax like that as well. Keep Doing the Stuff, my friend!

Hey Todd, I don't know how I missed this video. I'm adding it to my hewing playlist. Its a great explanation of the reasons for doing each step. You can tell you do a lot of teaching.

Great hewing job. That took a bit of practice before you got to the masters level. Thank you for the lesson, Todd

Appreciate it, bud. Haven't mastered the hewing thing but I keep working at it.

I have a very old axe with a handle that is curved to the side and the bit is curved as well. Would this have been used for removing bark or hewing..

Is this feasible for making a log cabin?
@SurvivalSherpa5 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. Many pioneers hewed logs to make cabin walls. It takes longer but worked for many cabin dwellers over the years.
