Turn found material into beautiful new creations with quilt maker Chris English. Watch how he transforms two unwanted shirts and a fat quarter into a striking improv pieced cushion before your eyes using both hand and machine-quilting. Throw rules out of the window, be free and enjoy following this tutorial.
All you need is roughly two XL shirts and a Fat Quarter (50cm x 55cm or approximately 20in x 22in)

Chris, I love your style and technique in quilting. I have been saving various fabrics from clothing I have worn through the years. I believe my stash will look great if I follow your style of creations. Thank you for sharing!

When I saw you put the front button up as the other side I laughed because I have made pillow covers like this! I found a gorgeous shirt at the thrift store & made one for a friend. The colors were so unique & they matched my friend’s decor! I was thrilled with your contrasting backs!

I do not enjoy finding, reclaiming or using recycled fabrics, but I do love this assembly technique Chris! I have a box of my Dad's wool shirts which I put aside to make a memory item out of when he passed, but nothing felt quite right: your cushion process is just the process I was looking for, thankyou!

Love this so much. Using the two halves of the shirt at the back to create an opening with no fuss is so great. Inspiring for me who has only done a small amount of quilting yet. Many thanks Mr English
