What's the point of using the straw if you pull it out before the dirty swab goes through moderator?!
@rich.dodd14 ай бұрын
@Cjtarinelli it's so he can get the puller through the silencer on the way in. It doesn't need to be in place when pulling it. Try it you will see, some silencers are harder to get it through than others. Personally I remove it before I start, not everyone wants to, perhaps it interfere with their shroud etc

A reassuring video. That’s exactly how I clean a barrel. Cutting patches in increasing sizes until they pull clean.
@Marcus_Shaw2 жыл бұрын
Great camera angle and demonstration. That's how I do it too 👍 For the noobs the reason why a pull through is better than cleaning rods is because air rifle barrels are usually choked near the muzzle so that's where most of the fouling deposits occur. If you use a rigid cleaning rod it pushes dirt and deposits back to the breech and Silicone breech seal. Pulling the patch one way only avoids that backwards contamination. Be careful when pulling through to start off by teasing the patch in at the breech end then I always grip the muzzle with my spare hand running the pull cord against my thumb so it stays central of the muzzle and does not abrade the muzzle crown. Also keep the barrel horizontal or muzzle down when cleaning an air rifle so contamination and liquids can not inadvertently fall back in to the air block. If a maintenance mount isn't available I usually place the rifle on a rice bag or backpack on a dust sheet or newspapers on the floor. Other than that, less is more. Barrel crowns are more likely to be damaged by over aggressive cleaning than under cleaning. Hope that helps 🙏🤣

Exactly how i clean mine but beware of cutting the strips too thick, if your barrel has O ring seals in it you can easily pull them out when cleaning (happened to me on my HW100) Not the end of the world but a bit of a fiddle to replace them :)
@ianwoods1384 Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, Thank you for giving your tim to show us how to clean our airgun barrels. May I humbly suggest that when you push your cord up the barrel, make a loop with the cord. Then you wouldn't have to keep re-threading the barrel. Obviously, always pull the cleaning material through the same way, in a clockwise direction, from the breech to the muzzle end. It's just a thought. If there's a reason why you haven't done that, can you let me know, please? Thank you again for your time. I'm just about to have a go.

I don't think Gun Cleaner Lubricant Aerosol by Napier is the right thing to use, the solvents could damage the O-rings in the gun, Napier only recommend the gun oil for air rifles. It's designed for cartridge weapons.

Yup buddy !!!! Its best before using various pellets, that these new pellets are washed in hot water & a cleaning agent (washing up fluid) Dry fully with hair dryer on tissue paper, when dry spray sparingly with car engine oil; !!!! The oil must be VERY THINLY applied, it WILL also lubricate the barrel internally & increase the pellet/projectile velocity.
