I learned about triplets, and I learned about the things we need to do to keep rockin', even when the frets taper off and the tempo is lost in the groove. Thanks for enlightening me about triplets and how to control them, without loosing my groove in the tempo. No one will ever match to this tutorial ditti. Home is where your A-chord is barred. Peace & Namaste.

Great breakdown. Appreciate you taking the time to show the feel of these figures over the measure. Very useful exercises. Can totally see how these help create interest. Fast is cool, but it don’t mean a thing if ain’t got that swing!

I especially like how you put each example into context. You actually play the parts over a track with the metronome in the background. Keep up the great content!!! This lesson is awesome for every level of player. Thanks RJ

Me again. What I find helps is to feel half note triplets for playing the 4 notes into triplets. Not much people grasp the fee. The 2/3 after second pulse and the 3/3 before the fourth pulse. Then the loop close you can feel it. Especially at faster speed. Funny part is at this moment you can understand where the triplets are coming from, it’s a 4 against 3 reversed cause I play at doing polyrhythms by forgetting about the theory and think about different rythme separately. I’ve heard one member of meshuggah saying that they don’t bother analyzing. I guess they execute by focusing on different reference points... if it make sense...

Good lesson RJ. Forcing myself to play all of my stuff in triplets regardless of starting on up or downstrokes was the single biggest thing to shock myself out of my horrible picking and phrasing. I still suck, but in less obvious ways now. ;-)

Great lesson! Pretty above my head at this point in my rhythm game, but you made it engaging and inspiring. I would have appreciated a looper pedal or backing track that you jammed to in the times you were playing those shuffle bits, just to get a better idea of what the triplets feel like within that groove.

Hey RJ. I got a Soundbrenner which REALLY helps with this stuff. I know it's a little on the dork side, but can you do a gear review on that thing with all the ways you use it? For instance, I have found it really helpful in training my vibrato to be in rhythm in various time sigs.

@@RJRonquillo I think its one of the best looking guitars you own. Also, I have a tendency to watch your clips all the way through even if I feel like I already know certain things and it pays off because I almost always learn _something_, even if its the smallest thing. Well worth it every time.

Along the same lines: practice Neal Schon's intro to "Don't Stop Believing" by moving back and forth between 16th notes and 16th note triplets. (using the soundbrenner app, of course)

@@RJRonquillo I do mean those. I kind of get how they work, but when you hear someone it sounds like they emphasise the first of the 4. But if you listen slowed down, it's 5 even triplets plus one. And when I do it, it always sounds like triplets!

Hey RJ, thanks for another lesson. Been wanting to ask you a question for a while - have you ever tried out the Kemper profiling amp and if so, what did you think? It seems particularly popular amongst the heavier end of rock guitarists, but not so much with more versatile guys like yourself. Thanks
