Great lesson Marty!! It certainly is important to choose one specific idea when practicing the guitar. It’s easy to get carried away once you put a backing track on haha 🎸

The best part of memorizing the minor pentatonic scale shape is being able to quite literally play along with just about any song, improvising the whole way. Almost impossible to sound bad doing it too, and reeeeally impresses the non-guitar players, even though what you’re doing is silly-simple since you’re just playing around on the shapes. If you’re watching Marty and are completely and totally mystified by how he sounds so good so effortlessly, go print out the minor pentatonic position chart and get memorizing/playing!
@UmVtCg3 жыл бұрын
The pentatonic will only get you so far. For the next level you need to play the chord tones.

I’d love if you would do a complete video of just talking about beginner equipment to buy. I know you did one about beginner guitars and stuff. I’ve been practicing guitar for about a year now, with your help. I bought an acoustic guitar, and recently bought my first electric guitar. It was a package deal, with an amp with it. Although I didn’t like the amp, it didn’t have many features on it. So I bought a different small one with a delay, reverb, and drum on it. But NOW, I’m interested in buying pedals. I don’t own one pedal yet, because I have no clue what to buy lol. Which pedals are the most important to have at first? Which recording/playback pedal do you recommend for beginners? Nothing too expensive. And what other pedals are important to buy at first, and which brand? Thanks Marty!
@shayh.35562 жыл бұрын
Marty is playing out of a Boss Katana and they make some pretty good pedals too! You can buy a Katana for a pretty good price and they are killer amps!
