Hello teacher Rebecca, I personally appreciate you and what you are striving to do to help people around the world who are struggling with speaking the language. You have such an artistic and creative way of teaching that makes students feel motivated and enthusiastic about English. I can certainly say that you are born to be a teacher. I have been learning English for over a decade, and I can use the language independently and confidently. I know English is one of the hardest languages to master. On the other hand, being able to hold a conversation in English is not that challenging, but mastering it takes a lot of effort and time. Here is the question I have for you today. When it comes to movies, podcasters, and some individuals like Elon Musk, hip-hop artists, and stand-up comedians, their English is sometimes difficult for me to catch the pronunciation of every word they say. I have tried my best to solve this problem, but I can't find anything or anyone. Would you mind helping me out with this problem? What is the real magic to getting the hang of all accents and natives' real-life English? Let me tell you one thing that I surely know. The English you are speaking in all of your videos is entirely understandable for me, and I think this is not the way you speak with your friends and family, right? But what I am really looking for is the English that you use with your native counterparts. When you speak English in your videos, you enunciate every word clearly, and this in turn helps us understand what you say vividly. But the thing is, nobody or no native speaker speaks like that in real-life situations. I am looking forward to hearing your kind and constructive remarks. thank you I am Misganaw from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

You're my favorite teacher dear Rebecca 💐💐💐 ... I have a question : In this lesson, you say : "short a" , but you pronounce like : "a,a,a" !? That is not a SHORT "a" ? ( Then of course we have this open "a" like in the word : "Washington" ) In other europian languages such as Scandinavian and finnish, you differentiate a short "a" and a long "a" by using "a" and "aa" ... Well, something like that ... I think I have problem with usage of the word "short" in this case. Maybe it would be better to say : "an open a" ? What you think ?
@emcarver8983 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I am native English and think the presentation is a little confusing. We don't say saaad maaad that is not the short a
@Independent... Жыл бұрын
@@emcarver8983 Thank you for taking time to comment my comment.. I think here above, even MY OWN comment was a little comfusing. Now I'll try to make it more clear : I Think we have to deal with TWO different phenomenons : 1- The pronounciation variations of the vowel of "a" in three ways : in the word "DAD" , in the words "MANY", "SAY" and "MAY" ( wich are pronounced like an "e" ) , and in the word "MARK" ( In this last case, maybe we could call it "an open a" , because we open the mouth when pronouncing. But this is just my suggestion, I don't know, maybe there is already another name for it in fonetics ). 2- The second phenomenon to point out when it comes to pronounciation of the vowel "a", is that we can pronounce this and ANY vowel, either SHORT ( like in "bank" ) or LONG ( like in "masterpiece" ) ... It was HERE that I mentioned some rules in other Europian languages, because they mark the vowel being "short" or "long", by a few rules in writing ... 🤣 I hope I didn't make you fall asleep ...😁...
