Been there, was my worst crash so far. I happened to me because I wasn't carrying enough speed and to compensate a pulled the bars (pop) too hard. The result was me flying like a rocket (pretty high, but not so far) and casing the landing with my front wheel.

Going to our pump track is one of the greatest things that ever happened to me. The stoke and flow are palpable. I got some great lessons from some sick 12 year olds yesterday.

Definitely a skill that can improve your riding no matter what discipline. Once made the mistake of bringing slack 29er to small bmx (or maybe kids) pump track. Bike fitted into 2 pumps at same time :D

Hey Tom, I know the concrete track but where is the dusty track on your video at 8.30 mins? Reason for asking is it looks more for beginners with a few more table tops that would be really handy for me! Thx

Hi Tom, great videos, thanks! Can you give me any advice on cornering? I went to Horsham pump track today, I'm pretty quick over the rollers and round the first two 90 degree corners, but I always mess up and lose my flow on the three hairpin corners. I find i get thrown out wide on to the grass on the corner exit. Any advice on lines/ body positioning etc would be much appreciated. Thanks, Will

In case someone else comes along, two big things that helped me. 1) don’t try to ride higher than the speed you have. 2) enter high and exit lower. You can kinda carve/pump the exit, as I imagine you’ve figured out in a couple years. Also of course, lean through the turn, don’t try to be upright.

I went to the pump track today and I was coming really fast around a corner and someone didn’t see me and walked in front of me with his skateboard and I tried to stop and hit him a little but as I was trying to stop I put my foot down on the upside of the roller trying to stop and jammed my knee really bad. (On second thought I probably should have not even tried to stop and just let him get hurt for walking in front of me).

Can you pump with your suspension locked?
@luiasori87
@luiasori87 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, pumping benefits from a stiffer set up, so the harder your suspension and tyres are, the more speed you can get while pumping. A locked suspension on the other hand, is meant for climbing, I guess that set up would be very good for pumping as well (althoug increasing the pressure in the tyres and suspension would be the best). Just don't locked it while practicing jumps, as many suspensions are not designed to take hits while locked.
