Most tennis players are stepping in with their front and getting off balance, when dealing with a wide ball in the middle of the court, on their backhand side. Instead, Jeff suggests using your outside leg to hit an effective slice backhand approach shot. As you swing, your front foot will come forward. You can push off your back foot towards the net and get in a great position to knock off the volley.
From a technique standpoint, Jeff highly focuses on the finish in his slice backhand. He recommends going out and across your body with the swing path, as well as having your racquet tip below your hand. Furthermore, Jeff prefers keeping the off hand slightly behind you and close to the pocket at the end of the stroke.
To sump up, developing dynamic footwork and learning how to move through the ball is one of the secrets to drastically improve your tennis game. If you practice the concepts explained on this tennis lesson, your transition game will go to the next level.

Man Jeff, such a mind trip. Inversing the footwork pattern. Definitely will test this out..having multiple footwork options will be a key support at higher levels just like multiple swing options. So many videos on "MOAR TOPSPIN" but footwork isn't very well represented. You're channel being a big exception to that observation. Thank you

I've heard this called a transfer step as well and man, for some reason this is the hardest footwork pattern to learn. I feel like a toddler learning to run.

Hey coach Jeff, here is my opinion on backhand slicing: if the ball is coming fast and aggressive, we need more control and defense in backhand slicing, therefore we separate our off hand far back than usual. But if we want the slice to be aggressive and fast, we should keep our off hand close to our body so we can slice the ball as hard as possible. What do you think?

Do you still finish that high if you’re slicing a higher ball? Or can you finish lower when slicing a high ball?
@K4R3N
@K4R3N 3 жыл бұрын
Yup. I'm popping the ball too high. And on my videos I see my off hand way separated like a ballerina lol.
