Most tennis players are stepping in with their front and getting off balance, when dealing with a wide ball in the middle of the court, on their backhand side. Instead, Jeff suggests using your outside leg to hit an effective slice backhand approach shot. As you swing, your front foot will come forward. You can push off your back foot towards the net and get in a great position to knock off the volley.
From a technique standpoint, Jeff highly focuses on the finish in his slice backhand. He recommends going out and across your body with the swing path, as well as having your racquet tip below your hand. Furthermore, Jeff prefers keeping the off hand slightly behind you and close to the pocket at the end of the stroke.
To sump up, developing dynamic footwork and learning how to move through the ball is one of the secrets to drastically improve your tennis game. If you practice the concepts explained on this tennis lesson, your transition game will go to the next level.
