Thank you. This was very helpful, particularly showing what it would look like if you didn't change the needle size as well as the color blips. 🙂

What a great tip! It seems pretty obvious once you demonstrate it, but I've been knitting for decades and have never seen this suggested before. Thanks!

this is one of those things that was painfully obvious once you'd explained it, and I can't help but wonder how it never occurred to me at any point during my 10 years of knitting... thank you for this

Thanks again Roxanne for your in depth demonstration and explanation of this technique. YOU ROC...😊😊 It is so valuable to me to hear the 'why' of techniques that I use but can't really explain. I learned to do very basic knitting as a child and later increased in skill by reading, experimenting, and picking other people's brains for the 'how' of knitting. You are in the league with EZ and Barbara Walker in bringing new understanding, appreciation, and adventure to my knitting projects.

Thanks so much for this tip! And perfect timing, too. I'm working on a shawl that will end with 2x2 ribbing in a new color. The ribbing always looks so loose when using the same needle size as used for the stockinette part. I think this technique will be just the perfect solution for my shawl.

I don’t know why this is the first time I’ve noticed your purl method. I’m going to practice it to see if it resolves the “rowing out” issues my method creates.

I would love to learn technical skills on corner-to-corner diagonal knitting. It's such a basic pattern used in especially mini blankets, but I have a lot of questions about it! Like, how do you start it if you want to add a different border than the usual 1/2 stitches of garter, how do I increase in the beginning so that the decreases at the end of the corner match, or... why is my sample boat shaped.. I did a kfbf on alternate rows in the beginning, which did not show up much like I wanted it to, but the central double decreases at the end corner showed too much! I need to know more about this, please help!!!

This question has a bit of relevance to this: sleeve cuffs on a top down sweater. I have a few treasured and ancient sweaters whose sleeve cuffs are worn and beginning to ravel. I still have yarn from those sweaters. I would like to save the sweaters. Do you have any advice to repair/reknit the cuffs? Some are rolled stockinette (ala J. Crew from years ago) and others are ribbed. Is it best to completely unravel them and begin again part way up the sleeve or is there a way to med without undoing? Thank you!

I thought I read somewhere that if you’re doing stock before ribbing in the round do a pearl row first ?
@RoxanneRichardson
@RoxanneRichardson Жыл бұрын
I've never seen that recommended, but it could be that some knitters prefer that result. There isn't a right or wrong way to approach that transition. Do what works for you and your project.

Does this work the same if you are working the ribbing first then going to stockinette?

Have you heard of doing a slip 1, knit 1 before switching from stockinette to ribbing?
@RoxanneRichardson
@RoxanneRichardson Жыл бұрын
That's typically done in the opposite direction: going from ribbing to stockinette, as in this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIevdIurbdxmq68
