How do I define the values in the equation? Is it a number? A superstition over what you think it has interest and value? How do I determine the numbers in the equation?

Great question, @Pontiffy. The numbers in the formula are not supposed to be exact. In general, the higher the interest or the value, and the fewer words, the greater the effectiveness. For example, say you are working on chapter 3 of a book about how to care for your guinea pig. If you can say the same thing in that chapter with less words, it will be more effective. If you add more interest, say for example you talk about how you race your own guinea pigs and enter guinea pig races every second Tuesday, that will increase the effectiveness. And if you add value--for example if you add more tips on how to keep your guinea pig happy--that will increase the effectiveness of the chapter. Hope that was helpful.

Love the channel. Can you make a video on themes? I just do not understand how they factor in. Am I supposed to have them at the beginning? Am I supposed to discern them from the story and then reinforce them upon rewriting? What?

Thanks for the great question, @kyleg1464! So glad you're getting something out of my channel. Themes would be a great topic for my next video. Some writers start with a theme in mind, but many write the book first, decide what the book is about, and make that their theme. THEN, they will usually make adjustments in their next rewrite considering that chosen theme. Neither method of coming up with a theme is right or wrong. What matters is what works best for you. In its simplest terms, the theme is what your book is about. I hope that was helpful.
